First lemme say I only have maybe 10 hours of welding experience, I quickly see how being ambidextrous would be of great benefit lol to many things going on, with to many limbs haha

Done with my brand new Miller Dynasty 200DX

The Dynasty200dx is a beast! i wanted one but found a good deal on my syncrowave 250. those welds look good. But when i weld stainless pipe i prefer to fusion weld with no filler rod unless its around a resonator/flange/or flex joint which often needs the filler. Its way easier and the welds come out looking sick! Did you back purge with argon?

great work!

Yea I realize that, this was a learning experience for me mostly, I did not clean the pipe one bit, I left that nasty mandel lube in there, but next go around i'll clean everything up nice im sure it will make a world of difference.

Shop is right next to SPL, so I nabbed some of their adjusters/shanks and made these FLCAs for a customer the other day. Think they came out pretty alright.

i wouldn't ever fusion weld tubing together.....then again, I do work for others and warranty all my work, so I'd rather it not break.

Exhaust tubing or other tubing?

As long as there's a flex pipe and proper mounting an autogenous weld should be fine for most exhaust as long as there's good penetration and good fit up!

I'll do tips fusion welded.

Also on my car I did one weld about two feet from the bumper fused so it has a place to break if I ever back it into a wall.

.065 zero bevel and pulse fused is strong enough for most exhausts, I just prefer not to since I warranty everything.

I've used my local hardware stores and metal supply stores. Metal supply stores are generally cheaper if you have any near you.

Thanks. I will take that into consideration. As far as impact resistance, I thought about it but wasn't sure how to tackle it. I'm currently trying to decide how I want to tie the towers into the firewall. I think I first need to read thru the rule books to see for myself exactly how it needs to be done. It seems just some reinforcing plates on the towers and firewall with whatever sized diameter pipng and wall thickness is required, should do the trick tho. This is just an overall just testing the waters in the shallow end of the "fabrication ocean". A real fabricator could probably do all this and make it weigh a lot less.
