It was more of a reverse-euphemism for someone who isn't an enthusiast in the slightest, rather just buying the car for whatever criteria it is regular folks buy cars on.

Miatas aren't really girl cars, they're just "effeminate" cars because of men with masculinity issues who feel that they are.
