I opted to remove them rather then cut into new paint.
The hold is fine with the 3m product that comes with it

They are not the same, this is common misinformation. I had to search for someone selling one to test this theory. Below are photos of both the OEM kouki emblem and OEM 240sx emblem. You can see how the kouki emblem matches the indentation in the bumper whereas the 240sx emblem is smaller and doesn't match the contours.
