In the first round, I think the driver of the Bugatti was being cautious because the road was wet. He even let off early and the GT-R took off.
In the second round, I dunno if he was in boost initially - the GT-R driver appears to have more practice, but in the end, raw HP took over and the bugatti started passing the GT-R - once again, the Bug-Driver let off once he felt the point was made... And the road was still wet.
Long story short, I think the Bugatti driver has a lot more to lose if they wrecked, so he was not going to challenge physics with a wet road - he was being 'smarter than the avg racer'
