It amplifies the radio signal in order for the jdm radio to receive it. In japan, the radio band is from roughly 75 to 90..

this ebay item will boost the radio's ability to pick up the signal.. so like ex: this fm amplifier on ebay boost by 18.. so lets say in the US your favorite station's radio frequency is 95.9.. you will then tune your radio to 95.9- 18 so 77.9.
its bolt on between the car antenna output and the input in the radio.
