need help please 1992 coup

Ok I bought a 1992 coupe sr20 2 days ago . Now my question is it has the heads up display that dose not work. The kid I bought the car from told me I had to soder something in the back to get it to work . Is this true ? All the fuses look good. Now can I get a used analog cluster and use that? I'm not to fond of the heads up display. I'm stuck here I don't know what to do .

Please help

Mine doesn't work either unless I drive the car for about an hour. then it pops on and works fine. I just use the rpms in certain gears to gauge speed. haha plus there are a lot of speed traps here to go off of. I would like to get mine fixed too. I heard it was about 600 duckets for a shop to do the work. Never verified it tho. But yea you can switch clusters without a problem. I suggest the JDM 180sx cluster. Unless you don't like decyphering kilometers per hour. Any s13 cluster will work tho. Its a pain in the *ss to take the cluster apart and find the capacitor or diode that is fried, then solder it and reassemble. easiest is analog also cheapest. good luck tho
