| As strange as is may sound I am doing it out of need not want. I broke the lower timing chain guide and when the chain started flopping it bent a valve. Instead of going through the expense of revalving the head, I found a good s13 head cheap. I just need to know if anyone has done it, and if so what parts I will need to finish it and be back on the road. Having my wife drive me around is getting old really quickly. Please help | |

| It isn't due to difficulty, the head has a small crack in it that I didn't see until I got it tore completely down. I hadn't noticed and oil or coolant coming form the area that has the crack, but I don't want to take any risks with putting a damaged head on the car. | |

| BANNED | gotcha, well I got my sr head already with the bent valves for a good price, so I just got some valves from my buddy and replaced them, and now i'm going to take it to the machine shop for a pressure check hopefully everything passes but as long as it is an obd1 s14 block I think it will work, but i'm not positive, actually really don't know at all but you would think it would work |

| The problem is that the block vin reads as a 98, but the head isn't a 98. Nissan switched from the dual cam chain to a single chain for 98. The head I have on the car and the head I just bought are both dual chain. So all points to a nonfactory head to begin with. The engine was from a 98 kouki that was wrecked and sold by Lethal Injection Motorsports. The guy who bought the engine swapped it into his 90 hatch, and couldn't get it running. He then sold it to the owner or Virjin Jorj, who put the bolted the intake ground wire where it should be and got it running. He then sold it to me. So I have no idea what the hell is going on with this thing. I just know that I need a running car. | |

The S13 head bolts directly to the S14 block, you'll just need a matching S13 upper timing cover and valve cover as they are different as well, the S14 covers won't work. We've discussed this before, do some research before posting next time.

I've got an S14 head I can sell you if that helps since you should have the other S14 covers. It's off a '95 engine with 123k miles. The cams are missing but it's otherwise complete and straight.
