Interest in T-56 Adapter Kit?

I'm looking into adapting a Tremec T56 to my S13 SR20 (S14 chassis), do you think others may be interested in this?

It would be a cheap, readily available way to swap in a very capable 6 speed transmission, without trying to adapt the S15 6 speed using the NISMO kit (which is prohibitively expensive). Also for those of us with earlier SR's that don't want to reswap to the S15 version. Lots of aftermarket support for different gear sets. Fitment is a little tight.

Or is this just a terrible idea?

You have to take into account that the T-56 is expensive to buy in the first place...

The kit could be cheap. But the cost of the tranny itself may out weigh that.

Wouldn't just be easier to use the 300zx ttranny?

T-56 Go from 1500-3000$ (Viper T-56 Go well above 3.5K)

If i were you i'd design a adapter kit for For Supra V-160 6-spd trany...granted it's a 5K+ $ Trans...but well capable of handling 1400-1600whp power on GT4788 Supras

In Short NO...ppl will Swap a 3.69 Diff of a Q45 Along with Z32 Trany...a setup that handled well up to 800 whp

FYI, another option you can try is make a Borg Warner T5 conversion kit.

For people on a budget, they can use junkyard T5s.

For people with more money, they can get a custom 6-speed inside a T5 gearbox.

For example, this one costs about $3000: RICHMOND 6 SPEED TRANSMISSIONS

Both options will fit your kit.

This has advantages over the T56 kit because the cheap people can use junkyard stuff and people with money can still go all out.

You also figure that anyone who have this much power will also need custom gear ratios. So regardless of T5 or T56, they'll need a custo gearset anyhow.

Just a thought.

Might as well just buy a T56 if the cost to make a T5 into a 6spd costs 3k+. This is a good idea though, I may look into doing this.

A $3,000 T5 is going to have custom gearing and much more durability than a $3,000 T56.
