rear tail lights stay on and brake light wont show problem

ok on my 89 coupe the rear tailight stays on and the brake light doesnt show, i might have a faulty wire or some sort of short, can anyone help me out shot me your suggestions...thanks

Look under your brake pedal and check for both rubber stoppers. The switch hits that rubber stopper and thus your brake lights go out. Without they will be on just like you were pushing the pedal down.

^thats what happened to me. i found the rubber stopper in pieces over the floor. all i did was take the one from the clutch, put it on the brake side. then got a penny and use some tape and wrapped it around where the rubber stopper was for the clutch pedal. works fine now.

same thing happened to me. changed out the broken stopper and it fixed it. Done.

Or you can use a round clip from your interior panels.. just about anything works.. when the solenoid is pushed down it stops the lights from coming on. It just needs to contact something. Without it, as the others posted, the lights will stay on indefinitely.

i had that happen to my clutch and my brake...i just used a 10mm nut and bolt..
