| Premium Member ![]() | Nothing but 87 Arco on my 240 and it runs just fine. I've used other types of gas but haven't noticed any differences. So I use what's cheapest. NOt like my car is boosted or high comp right now or anything. No detonation at all and I get 23-25 mpg. |

| Leaky Injector | i'm convinced http://www.caranddriver.com/article....&page_number=1 I never really believed that the additives and detergents in higher priced gas were worth the "hype", but this article in Car&Driver changed my mind. If you think about why auto manufacturers would create this TopTier designation it starts to make sense. It's not some shady deal with the big oil companies to promote their gas, it's to reduce expensive warranty claims on engines and fuel systems that get messed up by lower quality gas. In the end all gas basically burns the same (because its pretty much all going through the same pipelines to get here) and will produce the same power, unless you just get a bad tank that is contaminated by moisture or something. But from now on I'm going to put a couple extra bucks in my tank so my expensive injectors don't get clogged with deposits. ![]() |

| I'm good for atleast 91 octane from Hess. FL prices suck: 93 oct. $2.41 today....87 oct. $2.29. Where's the 1.89 like I saw in GA last week?

Yes, and gas station no matter the brand, Shell, BP, Citgo...etc.... can and does purchase gas from several different suppliers including each other as well as from themself. This gas all comes from the same tanks as regular, midgrade, and premium. Here comes the difference and what makes one better than the other. Shell, BP, Citgo, and mom and pops store...etc.. all have different brlend recipes for "their" additives. The additives are what makes the gas better. Additives help with lubricity (since we don't use lead anymore, yes lead was a lubricant), the cleaning of injectors, and each "brand" of gas has different levels of sediment and suspended solids (what ends up in the bottom of your gas tank. So, all the mom and pop places get the generic additives and the big oil companys use their recipes that are engineered to make theri brand better or worse then others. Shell V-Power is among the best fuel that can be purchased at the consumer level.... they spend a lot of money developing a good product, Exon/Mobil would be second to Shell. So when you are deciding who's product to put in your car, know that like everything else in life, you are getting what you pay for. Also, if you live in an area that has ethanol mandated, all gas has the same amount no matter the station....remember the whole thing about it all comes from the same place........ ** Disclaimer, I don't work for either of these companies...***

| Zilvia FREAK! ![]() | Chevron gasoline is used by several foreign and domestic manufacturers to pass EPA emmissions test and to set the mpg benchmarks. 3.79 for regular in Columbus, GA this morning 3.99 for premium.
