So... I don't see why you would bother to change. Vista isn't all that special but why would you want to waste your money just to get a new OS if your computer is running fine as it is?

Because vista has issues. These issues are rather annoying, and with a different OS my comp would run faster and better.

Thats my theory anyway, I posted the poll to gain better understanding of something I am not 100% on

the only issue i see that vista has is being superior to xp. Not to mention, I never blue screen anymore. I used to blue screen a lot in 98, less in ME, less in XP (about once a week). now i never blue screen on vista. No memory leak problem either, vista is just imo the most stable windows since ME. Not to mention, the most prettiest.

Pretty yes, but to say for instance, the laptop I am on now has gotten some blue screen that were serious errors. The laptop said it recovered but still though.

I get screwups such as my network and sharing center has been out of commission for months. IE7 screws up so much, I stopped using it and switched to safari.

I am not thinkin about switchin just cuz it looks better, I've used the macs at my school. I am really startin to like the OS just not enough to spend a 2500 or more to get a comp that is the same power as mine.

Just do a fresh install of Vista and wait for Windows 7. My computer had a hard time with vista (glitchy) installed from the factory, but then i reformatted and repartitioned the drive and reinstalled Vista with service pack 1 and I havent had one single glitch, problem, or BSOD since.

btw
why are you upgrading to 8mb or ram when operating systems that are 32bit only use 3.2mb of ram. waist of money now if you were running 64 bit vista pro then i would say okay 8 but still a waist of money unless you are editing porn or something and i mean the good porn were you need Vegas to get those bomb ass editing

Well, my Windows Update was corrupted from the factory. It would not find or install any updates. An hour on the phone with Microsoft didnt fix it, I ended up reinstalling. That reinstall was corrupted too, and I had to reformat the drive. Now it's fine, I like it better than XP now.

Having to do shit as admin and vista still won't let me run updaters on some apps. Vista's permission system is fundamentally flawed. Windows 7 would not be coming out so soon if they knew it wasn't a steaming pile. My XP systems will never see vista.

To the OP. Have you gone on the Hackintosh forums and seen if your setup will work well with OSX? It's set up for their systems and gets finicky if you get to far away from that. More so that they have put some anti clone code in some of the new updates.

Do some research on your make/model and if anyone has done it yet. There is a lot of coding in set ups that have not been done before.

I would almost Ubuntu that box and buy a Mac or build a cookie cuter hackintosh setup.

i don't know if its just hype, but last time i checked you can only load MAC os on INTEL chip sets and boards natively.

what is it that using Mac software is going to let you do that the pc wont? at an un-professional level anyways? Because if you had a job that required you to run a special program that is specific to MAC only then it would be out of the question. So... what is it that mac is going to do better than what you have?

The Intel thing, hm I need to look into that

Stability for one, vista has issues. I figured that it would run faster on leopard since vista is so ram and processor heavy. Plus i like some of the programs macs have, imovie, garage.

Choose MAC.
You will deal with AMERICANS once you break something on your MAC and can go to ANY MAC store in your local area
My friend got his whole monitor replaced for FREE 20" PLUS monitor too from MAC
Less viruses on MAC
If you really want, you can run VISTA on your MAC... but why?
The fastest home/office used computer is MAC

In the work field, the whole MAC and Windows thing is depending on the situation because each have their pros and cons when it comes to relying on technology for income.

BUT one thing is for sure, XP > VISTA.

I've loaded both OSes on my PC before..and for obvious reasons OSX was illegal and I wouldn't want to use it for daily computing. This was on a computer using an Intel motherboard, so I can't speak for AMD. I tired it before on my laptop (AMD), but no luck getting it to install.

Now my laptop is running Vista x64 and my new computer I'm getting will have Vista x64 loaded on it as well.

I've had no issues with Vista x86 (32-bit).....but I noticed better performance using the 64-bit. Just make sure you have supported drivers and apps that aren't dated.

I'm also anticipating Windows 7...which is one of the reasons I bought this new computer (also being a black friday special).

If you have a spare hard drive, try loading OSX and see if you like it. Just remember its illegal and venues for support are minimal.
