has anyone updated their aol instant messanger.
well i formated my computer. so i was updating everything went to aim.com to get the aim. and saw that it was totally diffrent. but after downloading it i didnt like it at all. it plays random sounds all the time and the adds have sound. using it sucks adding a buddy took me 3 minutes to figure out. if u still have the old aim do not update stay with it as long as u can. AOL SUCKS

Yeah, new AIM sucks!! Since then, I switch everything to Trillan.

Ditto on Trillian, I lost my aim and had to install that shitty new aim and hated it so I just got trillian pro. Love it way more than AIM Triton.

aim ad hack solves alot

problem with AIM is certain routers (linksys) default config makes you lose your connections regularly, i used to get dropped every 10 minutes till my house bought a new one (netgear)

Yup, Aim Ad Hack user here. They're good with having an update the instant a new AIM version comes out. Cleans up the messenger very nicely.

its just an old G3(panther OSX),but got it for cheap caus I needed something portable,and am completely HOOKED on macs...

or you could just go to www.oldversion.com and download an older version of aim... I still rock 5.2.3292 or whatever it is... old school, works with the older free versions of deadaim too

I just got a new computer last month and that is what I did; Version 5.5.3598, same one I been using for a LONG time now, since 2-3 upgrades ago.

so will trillion allow me to direct connect for file/picture transfers?? does it log aim chats? does it allow me to go invisible? I like the old aim back in the day when I could use programs like aim+ or Middleman.. but that doesnt work anymore..

I will have to check this out. Last multi chat client I had was fire and I didnt like it.

I got Trillian Pro and I can connect to some people and can't with others. You can save chats and will display last 20 or so lines of chat since you last talk to hte person. Yes you can go invisble, I like it cause when i use AIM it shutsdown on me like after 5 mins of usage...
