A ? for all those computer people out there.

Would not being able to clear your DNS cache cause your internet speed to become slower? Because when i try and have windows repair my internet connection it says that it cannot clear the dns cache. And lately my connection speed has gotten slower and slower. Any thoughts?

There are other things because DNS cache that can slow your connection. More or less...DNS cache is suppose to improve the rate pages show up (that you frequently use).

Check out this page for some tips: http://www.pcmech.com/show/optimize/677/10/

I have more links to other tweak pages if your interested.

Slower when browsing web pages or slower when downloading files? If its slower only when browsing web pages then it might be a corrupt cache. If it's slower when downloading huge files then it should be something else.

DNS doesn't slow down your internet. You have something hogging up your DCP/UCP. Spyware is the most comon problem.
if you really think your dns is the problem. try using the msn or yahoo dns on your computer.

There is a way to install Limewire and not the spyware. I did it.
Also, since you have spywares (I bet more then 1) You should reformat you'r computer.
If you would like to test your internet speed, use this

Do you have a seperate CD with the OS on it? If so...that CD should be bootable and give you the option to reformat your harddrive (which means you delete EVERYTHING).

Use this site to test your bandwidth: http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/

Do you have a firewall installed on your computer? If not...check out Zone Alarm.

If you have a linksys router, you might have to downgrade your firmware.

333kbps down and 284kbps up is fucking slow. you probably have bronze sbc dsl service.
i dunno if i can live with that type of speed hah. I get 9000down and 1000up.

call up customer service and find out what's really wrong.
the techs will tell you to go to testmy.net for a correct reading.
