Thumbs down Retarded ricey tow hooks on daily driven cars

So I'm browsing through Honda-tech.com looking at some pictures in the General Appearances sub-forum. I click on a few links and I noticed how many CivicIntegras had those retarded ricey tow hooks installed. I think these CivicIntegra owners installed 'em so they can look like race cars. But I think they look really stupid.

Fisrt thing, I wouldn't trust those aluminum hooks. Sedond, they block the factory tow hook location.

:ghey:

Naw, they are ready to get their cars towed away, cuz they break the max db limit with their bee-hive of a n exhaust.

Someone should be rice and install one of those towhooks on the passenger side of the car.

Lol. I've thought about welding a hook on the front of my car. Comes in handy when you put your car in a ditch. though those cars look too nice to be put in a ditch, lol. Now, those ones on the back of that cars are stupid, they are coverind up a tow hook with a tow hook. but a front one could come in handy, like i said.

okay, whats the difference between that and having:

-2 grand in rims that you had to wait 3 months to get
-10 inches of rim when you have 8 inches of tire(after stretching)
-rims that stick out an inch from the fender
-a motor with a glass valvetrain that you imported because "it isn't a truck motor"
-any lnumber of other "dorifto" bullcrap artifacts plastered on your car for the sheer purpose of announcing to the world "i can sling the back half of my car into a concrete barrier and not care cause that's how the japanese do it".

its just as stupid as all of your retarded little fascinations that don't matter. just because its on a honda doesn't really make it any less ricey than all of you kids' antics.

hmmm, I want one, just so I don't destroy my frp front bumper if my car ever needs to be towed. But they do look pretty ugly on those hondas, if only because they stick out so far. Just wait until one of those cars hit roadkill and impale them on the tow hook.

I have no opinion on the tow hooks...

i don't see installing aftermarket tow hooks as rice so long as the car is actually used on a track where an off track venture could require a nice beefy tow hook that's easily accessible.......now, i wouldn't install aluminum tow hooks necessarily but hey......that's on them

Werd.
I'll do it.

It makes life a LOT easier then pulling the bumper off in a ditch before you get towed.

that first integra posted is very sexy. Love the gab(?) wheels.

as for the tow hooks... no worse than the things 240 owners do to their cars, really.

I agree, that integra is sexy. I think those wheels are rotas.

Anyways, as others said, we do shit to our cars that other people laugh at. My co-worker was giving me shit when i put my z32 brakes on. Saying WTF are you doin? Your car isnt any faster, so why do you need to stop faster??

Makes sense to me. Quit hating.

I don't understand why they don't get one like the S2000. It's functional. When you need it, you take it out of the trunk and screw it in the hole in the front bumper. If they "need" one great; just why is it permantly mounted. Hell I would be afraid I would trip over the damn thing.

Oh and at those who say they don't trust aluminum for the hooks. It'll hold, no worries there.

i would imagine you know this from personal experience??? the only reason i was thinking of not using aluminum was b/c i figure it would just flex and bend under the stresses of the tow truck trying to pull it :shrugs:

I know this from being a mechanical engineering graduate. There's enough cross-secional area there that it'll hold just fine. It's definitely not pure aluminum anyway, but an alloy.

they are mainly used at the track for an assist vehicle. the aluminum ones work fine, and you can even mount one on your roof if you like. stop bashing them cuz your car probable sucks compared to the ones you posted.

ignorance.

I don't see these as a wholly "horrible" or "rice" idea, just that I would not personally do it on my own car. I saw mention of removeable ones somewhere in this thread as I skimmed trying to avoid ignorantly blind hatred and agreed with that as an even better idea.

... I still won't do it, but hey, I paid for my car, not you guys...

seriously, it's their car leave them alone. Having come from Honda-Tech a while ago I know for a fact that a few of those cars do see track time and Tow-Hook is a functional thing. If your gonna call them stupid, you could call anyone who gets a body kit or anything appearance related dumb for getting it.

why not buy the tow hook mod it to where u need it to fit then take it off and leave it in your car. when you need the hook take it out put it where u modded it ot fit and take ur shit out of the ditch. when done remove and throw back in trunk.

my stock tow hooks are fine iwht me. plus i cant see spending approx 100 for something like that, when it can be had for a lot cheaper. it probably cost those guys 20 bucks to amke.
