yeah your not going to get visual basic runtimes installed on vista in compatibility mode in non administrator.

in fact VBR has a horrible compatibility with vista. Hope that it's fixed in windows 7 emulation mode

pretty much everything is incompatible with vista x64. Maybe try installing vista x32 or just dual boot into xp.

just tried it

works without problem in windows 7 32bit, so it should work in vista32 too
will not be able to work in any 64bit environment because it looks like some parts of FAST are 16bit programs (not compatible in 64bit windows)

in a winxp32 virtual machine through win7 64bit, no surprise there it works. unfortunately it doesnt integrate with the win7 XP mode.

edit : forget what I said about win7 XP mode integration. you just have to place manually a shortcut in documents and settings/all users/start menu and you will be able to start FAST from win7 64bit. quite impressive!

BONK!!!

You remember the handy vista upgrade chart.

If you're running vista 64 premium right now the only thing you can "upgrade" to is 7 premium x64. Everything else is a clean install where you wipe the HD.

This really pains me to say... But the more I mess with windows, the more if fucks up on me, and the more Apple looks like a good alternative. OS X Snow Leopard is pretty dope I hear. I gotta get a chance to fuck with that sometime.
