| can't knock the hustle ![]() | Yes they REALLY did drift the civic. The guy's name was Dave as I remember, but I could be wrong. I hung out with him and Mark once, got to ride in the infamous blue coupe. That car is why I fell in love with 240's. Those guys are almost certainly the first US drifters to be publicized in any way, but I know there were others before that never got any publicity.

| Zilvia Junkie ![]() | I would say Slide Squad was the first team that got any sort of public media attention, but they definitely were not the first. I remember there were a bunch of guys at the original TRD office in Torrance that would drift. This is back in 1993-1994. Also, I've seen pictures of Ito-san from WELD drifting in the U.S. when he was a race mechanic in Nascar. Although he's from Japan, he drove with some local american guys.
