ehh, ok so basically i lost my licence and ordered a new one from the DMV yeayyy 12$ pissed away. anyway

there was a local CHP Check point for unlicensed Drivers and Drunk drivers today, it was on my way home. Officer asked me to pull in so they can check for my information to pull up my license. so i pulled in, it took them about 15 minutes to ask me if i had been helped i politely said no and so he went about to ask me for my name birth date and address. I gave him that and my past 2 dresses before the one i reside in now. officer comes back and tells me there is nothing on record for me except for a speeding ticket back in 2007. (yeay senior year! woot) he then asks me to step out of the vehicle and take out all my personal belongings. at this point i kinda got mad and asked what the problem was. he said that there was no licence on record! i spoke with him and told him that i had lost the card and just recently ordered a new one if he could check again. he then asked dispatch and re ran my name birthday and address. Again the dumb bitch said that all she had on file for me was a speeding ticket. (maby she was on the wrong screen?) anyway. I asked the cop if i can have my mother come pick up her car and drive me home he replied and said no that the Car had to be Towed and Impounded for 30 Days. I then called mom and she picked me up and was kind of upset.

Now here is the WTF part of this.
-How can you pull up my speeding ticket and not figure well he has a licence there is no previous unlicensed Driver tickets on my record.
- Why did he write my Drivers License number on the ticket (fuckin douche)
- gave me a ticket for Unlicensed Driver.
- Fucked up on the ticket He put that the registered owner and adress where same as driver. wich is stupid because my mom is the registered owner and she registered it at a different address.

that is my mom's only car why the fuck does she have to wait 30 days to get it back shouldn't she be able to go to the impound yard on Monday and get her car back?? my main concern is the tow yard fees and my mom not having a car for 30 days. not to mention the fat ass prize tag to get it back. for no reason. i mean it was the officer being a prejudice or the dispatcher being a complete idiot and I gotta pay for it? I think its complete bullshit ive heard horror stories about this kinda stuff. aparently the only thing the courthouse can do is waive my ticket but i would still have to pay for the tow truck and impound fees. im just worried my mom wont be able to go pick up her Automobile on Monday Morning. that would make her pretty upset. and make me pretty broke.

Wow, that's unbelievably gay. Driving without a license (the card) can bite you sometimes - usually it's just when you're trying to buy alcohol or get into a club though lol.

I'd say you've got a chance at getting the car out on Monday, but it's by no means guaranteed - and you WILL be out the $300 or so for the tow and overnight (two days) in the yard. Good news is, that ticket will get thrown out in court.

From reading threads on here, it seems that police has been towing a lot of cars in California lately.

Many times they have all kinds of 'under the table' deals with the tow yards/companies, and love to send business their way in order to scratch each other's back

ok....it happened to me too with my car being towed and impounded at CMPD for 30 days. BULLSHIT!!! dont believe that shit, trust me. They told me the same and even gave me paperwork saying that my car will be there and i will be able to get it ONLY after 30 days and not earlier. I waited 25 days and went to look for my car, i went to CMPD and they told me that the car was never there, but in stead it was at G&M Towing and those bastards told me that i could have picked up my car the same very day, by anyone that has a drivers license (my friends, family, whatever). They are fucking lame retards and most of the time dont even know what they are doing. Its up to u to follow up and make sure u know exactly whats going on with ur shit. Trust me dude, go find and get ur car back!!!

yeah he has my ssn adress name and number. he aparently pulled up my entire record even my previious speeding ticket and DL number but no "valid drivers licence"

Juan if the car is registered under her name, you will have no problem taking it out of the impound yard.

When my car was impounded i talked to the police officer and asked how i could get it out and he said the only way i would be taking my car is if it was registered in someone elses name.

Yup you are given a temp driving licence when your waiting for your new one, i just went threw this in late april early may. It's illlegal to drive w/ out a DL or temp DL .... sorry no sympothy from me

i lost my license card. it was never expired or suspended as far as know. i only had 1 speeding ticket and that was in 2007 and it was paid

no, it's not. It's like speeding. It's illegal to be speeding but all it takes is a ticket and you're back on the road. When you lose your license or it expires it's a $50 ticket and a warning to get a new one. nothing more. His car should not have been towed. That's retarded.
The cop obviously had it out for him. My guess is the cops are getting an iggy on the backside from the tow company. So much shit goes on with cops it's crazy.

TO the OP, did you bring up anything you stated on the original post? I would get a lawyer. I know it might be a pussy thing to sue but it might be your only option to get your money back. I just hate it when cops get big heads and misuse justice and punish people who aren't breaking the law. I mean, shit, you just have to get a new dl and she towed your car? come the fuck on.
