Heres a pic of my old track bike. I REALLY miss this thing. 16.5lbs with pedals. I got a road bike and found myself not using it as much so I sold it.... I regret it. Very fun bike.

Front brake is easy, as long as the fork is drilled for one. Just need to know the reach, some are long reach some are short, most are universal about 50mm?

weinmann lp18 are the rims, they ok
spokes- reccommend 14guage, 32spoke+
tires- higher psi to protect rims for narrow tires, 25c = 100psi+
hubs- formula hubs are considered best bang for the buck
the lockring and cog is very important, get eai = euro asia imports

I've ridden a couple fixed gear bikes and I love riding them.
I don't need anything fancy.

I was thinking about getting some Weinmann LP18s, good enough?

Oh, can anyone provide me with any reputable retailers? I catch some here and there, but would prefer a referred shop, maybe a fixie SPLParts dealer or something.

Personally, I prefer pursuit frames. I've ridden a few Leaders before. Only problems I have with them is that the fork sucks and they require a huge stem. As well as the dropouts weren't straight/even (seen this on a few)

Thats for wheelset reference, sorry not my leader frame,

I have a 70's steel frame / trek 5000 olcv (converting, not sure if I will follow it)

They are setup with race geometry in mind for maximum aero posture and power/efficiency.

But with any bike, setup is key.
Click the image to open in full size.
The seat is too far pointing down, as are the handle bars. Not to mention it has no clips.

wwwtttttffffffff

I want to ride one, seems like it would be uncomfortable for daily riding, especially the aero posture you have to be in.

what are you talking about those are strapless pedals that you need to buy the fancy shoes to use. those look like the SPD-SP or PD-M pedals.

also, you should learn the difference between a seat pointing down and a slop design of the seat having more cushion in the rear.

Straps or clips. Either or the other. But at least one should be used. Those pedals look like mks pedals but without the straps. Clip-ins are smaller.

Sloping design or not, it's still pointing down. Nothing is stopping that seat from being raised.

Q. What's the worst part about riding a fixed gear?
A. Having to tell you friends and family that you're gay!
