SSD drive options for upgrading Macbook

Instead of buying a brand new Macbook I'm going to overhaul my current one which is a 2.0GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo , with 1GB RAM, and 80GB 4200rpm hard drive. With Snow Leopard coming out this summer I want the best performance I can get so I'll be upgrading my RAM to 3GB and upgrading the drive to a SSD drive.

I've been researching and have found that there are two types of drives, SLC and MLC and each seems to have their weaknesses.

SLC (price, lower storage space)
MLC (shorter life span, not as fast as SLC, etc)

If I get an SLC, the largest I can get within budget would be a Intel or Samsung 64GB so I could always use my 80GB disk drive as an external. With the MLC, I could get a 128GB Samsung SSD for the same price.

So I was wondering what others have done or if anyone has upgraded to SSD...or if anyone has any opinions on certain brands that would be awesome.

Any drive with any space that is SATA 2.5" will work with the Macbook whether it be disk or SSD...
