Whenever I go on long drives, I tend to mix it up a bit and listen to a ton of different things.

Lately, I've been listening to Matisyahu.

King Without A Crown is a favorite, but the whole album is pretty good.

Obviously listen to the old school Bob Marley stuff.

It's that chill music you can just cruise to and be happy with life.

At least that's how it makes me feel.

oh wow, just wow.

I can't believe not too many people knows what ROOTS REGGAE is all about which is why my buddies and I started a ROOTS REGGAE band that I ended up leaving a year later due to focusing on my career, but they still play, so check them out; they're really good and original.

myspace.com/soulutionaries

I definitely would recommend you to check out Tommorrow's Bad Seeds because I played with them years back like waaaaay before they thought of their band name and I really enjoyed jamming with them. Although their music isn't roots reggae, the foundation of their music is based on reggae while adding a pop-like culture which intertwined the gap between the roots reggae generation and our generation.

Here are some real roots reggae artists:

Alton Ellis
Arthur "Duke" Reid
Bob Andy
Horace Andy
The Blues Busters
Dennis Brown
Burning Spear
The Ethiopians
The Gladiators
Humble Soul
The Congos
Seeed
Gregory Isaacs
Jah Cure
King Tubby
Jacob Miller
Misty in Roots

and basically anyone from Trojan Records is goood. Also, try searching ROOTS REGGAE in any major search engines, so y'all can educated yourself about what generation we missed.

PS, try to watch the next SOULUTIONARIES show and say what's up to me

JAH! RASTA FARI...

I have a TON of roots reggae on my computer, and a lot of it is just so unpolished/sloppy and musically boring that i don't care for it too much.

granted, there is also a ton of GREAT stuff. It just seems to be a lot more hit or miss with that stuff.

but it layed the foundation for what reggae has evolved to today (more like the 90's).....and for that reason i respect it. It's also fun to listen to the old reggae and hear a bunch of stuff that modern artists have sampled

PS, i'm checking out the soulutionaries right now

ooooh yeeeeeah! i forgot to mention the skatalites. Soulutionaries opened for the Skatalites in many venues and the most recent one was Scotland Yard in Canoga Park a few weeks ago. Skatalites is one of my musical influences and they are really cool peeps. I got to jam with them a few times which was one of the best moments of my life. Soulutionaries is fun to watch live because you get to see exactly what's going on and how they make sounds out of their instruments especially when they jam in Dub Reggae.

oh it's reggae.....good call mah man. They're definitely one of my favorite bands (at the moment).

Their sound isn't too groundbreaking or complex, but it's got a nice feel to it and they have a lot of sick songs

I INSIST: DOWNLOAD THE ALBUM "COURAGE TO GROW" - REBELUTION

I don't know if it's "real" reggae, but I'm all about some Damien Marley. At least, that one song "Welcome to Jamrock."

Yeah, I'm an old timer and music was my minor in college. I made sure I network as much as I can while I was in college and I got to meet many cool peeps. One of the cool peeps I met when I was networking was the singer of Tomorrow's Bad Seed like back in 2002. He was a singer that competed in one of those American Idol type of singing contest, but he got kicked out because of smoking herbs lol. Anyways, one day we were blazing in his back-house, I picked up his guitar, started jamming with different chords while messing around with different ways to strum it, he started freestyle singing, his homie who is now the guitar player for Tomorrow's Bad Seed jumped in the jamming session, I dropped the guitar and hopped on the keyboard, and it went on from there which is pretty much how Tomorrow's Bad Seed started, but I didn't continue playing with them because I had other priorities in life. Now, I'm hitting myself for not growing with them.

whenever you're in LA, just hit me up. I and I will jam out rock steady mon! JAH! Rasta Fari.... Allahmerci
