i never really got into reggae, but i do like some of it. especially the lyrics in most of bob marley's songs and damien's songs. i've been getting into this group called Jah Division lately... they cover Joy Division songs. pretty rad.

I ought to ban you for forgetting Buju, I have ALL of his albums, I would go as far as to call him my favorite Reggae artist. I met him back in 2000 after a show in Charlotte, he is actually a REALLY nice person, he offered to sign my copy of "Unchained Spirit." That CD is locked away now and I bought a new copy the next day to actually remain in the collection.

Wow, I am just now noticing that Stephen even HAD a new album that came out March this year.
I will listen to it before passing judgment.

yeah he had a free show down here in sofla; sort of a record release. Mr. Cheeks opened and Damien came on along with the other marleys to play with Stephen.

theres just nothing that stands out about his album, doesnt touch Bob nor Damien

I know this is an old thread, but I sure enjoyed reading this seeing how I grew up on Reggae Music and all my family is from Jamaica. I'm also happy to see how many Reggae listerns are on Zilvia. If you can find any old Pinchers songs, those are good. And if you liked Belly, check out Shottas also The Harder they come is a good older movie starring Jimmy Cliff.

Thanks man. My wife and I listen to Reggae weekly. We just love it for chillin, cookin, and drinkin.

We wanna go back to Jamaica again real bad.

It's funny, every time we go we get back and we're so satisfied and we say we don't have to go back for a few years or whenever. Then a couple months goes by and we keep talking about how beautiful it is and then we start planning on going again. We probably won't make it back this year, but who knows. We didn't think we would go last year either.

Local guys for me.

Tribal Seeds. They are pretty damn good.

Steel Pulse. I hope they have been mentioned.

If you want some up beat ska that breaks it down with some awesome reggae parts look up The Cat Empire. They always put me in a good mood.

Shottas is one of those movies that the underground/bootleggers forced the mainstream too notice and eventually release... I'd had a burned copy of it since like late 03, and wasn't able to own it on DVD until like christmas season 06... I still watch that movie all the time, I think I will watch it again this weekend just for the hell of it.

We kinda try to avoid the things that could have the RIAA shut down the forum... Effective googling can turn up some rapidshare/zshare/megashare/etc links, I promise you.
