Thumbs up Why USDM 240sx are AWSOME!

i dont know if something like this has been posted before...but

over the years i have seen many people pointlessly complain about USDM 240's. "the ka sucks, they should have come with an sr", "omgwtf only one tire spins!"

well, heres a list of reasons why IM glad that they came this way:

1. to start off, if they did come with SR's and VSLD's.. most of us wouldnt have one. they would be FUCKING EXPENSIVE
2. my insurance company considers 240's to be in the same category as ford escorts...cheap ass insurance
3. most of us wouldnt know shit about cars, because we wouldnt have one to break down all the time honestly, who wants to tune a ford escort or civic?
4. because you wouldnt have a 240, you probably wouldnt drift. this means you would have never, ever had any fun your whole life! i guess you could drift an s10 or something lol

this is just my opinion, and i know most of you dont complain..just teh n00bs that dont want to put some sweat and blood into their car

feel free to add to my list!
oh ya.. ive been working on my 2 s13's for about 3 years now, my post count doesnt mean SHIT

This is the dumbest thread I've ever seen. Dumber than sportmax wheel fitment threads. I hope it gets locked. This is some shit that belongs on 240sxforums.com, or Nico.

yes, they are slow. the stock suspension kinda sucks.
but, there are 30k members just on this forum. and i know of 4 other forums dedicated to 240's with a lot of members. They obviously attracted somebodys attention

EDIT: the thread might be poorly constructed, but i see no reason why it should be locked. im just making a point that a stock 240 is an awesome car. if you think its so dumb, you shouldnt have wasted your time posting. ass

That is why you have a 240sx as a daily driver and a silvia as a race car. At least that what I do.

In reality 240's suck. All they can do is drift.

I know you would choose a ferrari if you could instead of some 240.

I'm happy to have usdm 240's.

Member count meants nothing. Most of them were only here once and never came back. Then some others are nubs who's s13 will never look decent.

Some others have come to realise that that car is ok for what it does. But a 240 won't get you chicks like a real luxory car will.

<3 ls400 vip for life.

I could care less that my car came with a ka or open diff.

Because if it did come with a sr I would've ended up swapping to a ka-t. So nissan usa saved me some money there.

1) y would it be fucking expensive? i could understand it being a little bit more but fuckin expensive... no. its been what? over 10 years since theyve been out and if i recall, gas is expensive, turbos eat gas, ppl are cheap bastard so they want to save money... so yea. i doubt it would be "fucking expensive"
2) i would agree on this one
3) IM assuming u dont even have a SR or u dont actually track it or drive it. To date, when i was KA the only problem with it was the timing chain guides that everyone has. Other problems were the BMC, CMC, CSC, and thats it. NOW with the SR ive had, bad coil packs, misfire, bad timing, blow by, blown turbo, blown mani-to-turbo gasket SIX FUCKING TIMES, bad injector, running rich, bad idle the list goes on and on. TO ME the SR breaks down far more times than a KA.
4) uhh who said u HAVE to have a 240 in order to drift? O NOES!! LUKE IS DOING IT ALL WRONG CUZ HE DRIFTED A RX7!! if the 240 never even came out, ppl would drift with a corolla.

maybe the usdm is better or not but either way, both have their pro's and con's. honestly

we have a 240 and enjoy driving it. end discussion

Wow, who tuned your motor? Or is it tuned at all? Bad tuning or no tuning and bad timing can cause all of the things you listed except for the manifold to turbo gasket. Stock and worn motor mounts cause the manifold to turbo gasket to come loose because they allow the motor to flex too much.

^ That same shit happened to me because one of my motor mounts was fucked and it caused my turbo to shift positions. Needless to say I'm glad its fixed.

Sweet thread btw.

Hmmmmm thats why i have a good friend that dose extremly well at road racing his 240

And there is this guy with a TT SR that pulls low 10's in the quarter mile.

hmmmm they are good for other things as well as drifting, thats just the most popular event that they compete in.

good driver + proper setup = anything you want it to be.

ka-t = garbage
SR = not garbage

ka-t = more time than its worth its a higher compression motor ITS NA stock

SR turbo stock = lower compression. hmmm no brainer

I dont necessarily agree with #4 since there are other RWD cars that we could have purchased to drift. For example- mazda miata, the Americans (camaro, mustang, vette), and you cant forget about the 300zx and the Rx7. There would always be alternates to learning how to drift, and not owning one does not stop one from learning.

the only down fall of a USDM S13 back in its days was it never got popular in the race track due to its motor.drifters liked it cuz, its aftermarket support and cheeper than a supra,300zx,RX7 FD3S or S2000 just my $.02

WTF I feel like everyones retarded lately. For 1 yes 240sx's S13/S14's kick ass, or we wouldnt be here talking about them, but why a thread about it.

Second, sidewayskeet, Fail. KA is not a bad motor at all (stock or modified). I have owned plenty stock to have enough fun and be HELLA reliable. I've driven 2 different KAT's (nemes and speedmonkeys), and they were fuckin awsome, hands down. I own a SR, and wouldnt ever put the ka back in for a race car, but the KA is an exelent option. Also there is a 9 second KAT S14 so yea.

In the end these cars are fun and money can make you go fast or sideways so spend it like its on fire...I do..geez. Ohh and Jon Wayne, Scott, Mel and Anthony FTW!

how is ka-t garbage?? If you provide better statements than "the compression of the pistons are higher", i then might consider it garbage, but until then, the ka has as much potential as the sr.

And no, the sr is not a drifting engine nor was it made specifically for drifting!

edit...theres a ka-t that broke into the 8's

no one tuned his motor? what does tuning have to do with those regular maintenance problems except for misfiring which can be normal if you are running a test pipe. sr20s that are bought and dropped in are jdm junkyard motors so you have to expect these problems. on mine, the timing was messed with by the previous jdm owner and i had to set it back to stock but it still idles all weird.

Mine stutters in the morning when its cold, and its a bitch to start when its warm. There is a wierd noise coming from my valve cover when it idles... scared me because i thought it was knock, but after examining it closely I could tell it was coming from the valve cover.

It stutters every once and a while from 1800-2000rpm when I'm slowly cruising around parking lots looking for parking spots.

I have an HKS BOV thats non-adjustable, when I unplug the vacuum line (cap it) the engine runs a little bit better.

my throttle responce isn't as nice as other peoples SR's, kinda pisses me ofs :/

Overall, I like the engine, but I personally though my KA-T had way more balls; break loose 1st, 2nd and 1/4 of 3rd stock internals, 7psi /370cc injectors. I think the reason why it had guts was because it was fully spooled by 2900... lol

USDM cars, JDM, and WDGAFDM cars or whatever domestic market they came from will always have advantages and disadvantages depending on the tuner.

d-oom, I'm happy for you, you like usdm 240s and that you think they rock or something.

However, the rest of Zilvia just...

DON'T GIVE A FUCK

I hope you have fun with your USDM 240sx.

Stupid ass thread full of stupid ass arguments.

I don't want to see another SR vs. KA or USDM vs. JDM bullshit thread. Everyone has their own taste and preference. End of story.
