Bone stock upgrade suggestions?

ok so I am fairly new here and I'm not a master tech or anything like that. I've done a Ton of research and am just looking for any extra info I could pick up. if you think I'm dumb for asking you can have one of these -->:fawk: and a nice day. down to the point, in short I will be doing a KA Rebuild I don't want an SR, Everyone has an SR plus my 4cyl. Ka24de would be alot easier to work with Due to California's laws:bash:. I have been looking into getting a t25/28 Turbo and kickin the stock 155hp up a whole other notch so If you don't have any info don't scrutinize me to make yourself feel better Thanks.

On Tuesday November 16th one of my best friends Nicholas "Ace" Rodriguez was killed in a motorcycle accident. He was only 21 years old and his gf is 4 months pregnant with a baby boy. I have known Nick since we were kids and i can honestly say its like loosing a brother :wtc:. I am still in a state of shock, all i can think about is that fact that he will never get to see his baby, his own flesh and blood, and the baby will never know his dad.
We are having a car wash tomorrow to raise money for his funeral, I would really appreciate it if some of the local zilvians came out and showed some support.

the car wash will be at la sierra park in riverside, ca from 9am - 4 or 5pm.

True Nightmare California Smog Story

S13 KA24E engine A TALE OF MADNESS IN CALIFORNIA

I went to test only--passed visual--failed High Nox-paid $38

Applied to CAP--got letter for $500 of repairs

Went to Gold Shield station--left it for 2 days

Failed visual at Gold Shield--wanted to remove all my gauges / reroute all vacuum lines / remove Air Fuel gauge wire from the Oxygen Sensor...I picked up the Car and the shop kept my CAP letter.

I took the car to my mechanic and replaced 2 leaking injectors, the MAF, spark plug wires, EGR solenoid, and cleaned out the EGR passages inside the manifold. CEL turned off and car ran perfectly.

Note- I had replaced the IACV and the Oxygen sensor and the PCV valve months earlier. CAT is 2 years old.

The original Smog Test Only shop which would do a retest for $11 had been closed for 2 or more weeks--so I went and paid $38 to another Smog Test Only shop.

I passed the visual inspection even though the Gold Shield shop had written that I tampered with 8 things and they said my "Timing" was off because my idle was off. No Timing degree numbers were listed in the Smog paperwork. Paid $20

DMV refused to give me temporary operating permit [TOP] without the original CAP letter.

Called CAP--they told me to pickup the letter at the shop. CAP put me back into their program because the 3rd smog test had passed my car on visual inspection.

Returned to DMV with CAP letter and got a 60 day TOP [temporary operating permit] DMV wanted $50 for it if not in the CAP program

I called BAR and they sent out an inspector directly to me to photography my engine. BAR has reviewed the photos and

said I should take it to a BAR referee. The inspector said to tell the next Gold Shield shop to call him personally.

I went to a new Gold Shield shop on Nov. 13...it was a friday. The Master smog tech there said I tampered with the Oxygen Sensor and didn't like my silicone vacuum hoses. He said that his shop won't work on my car and told me to go to the BAR referee. He refused to call the BAR Inspector. He said he wanted to work fast and not spend the day inspecting my car in order to repair it.

My 3rd failed smog test I had High Nox and the CO was a little high only at 15mph.
The car runs better than new. But the emissions are over the limit.

The Gold Shield shop told me on Friday the 13th, that California now requires an OBD2 Cat on all cars even though I have an OBD1 and it will cost $300.

Is this true?

The next step is I am seeing a BAR referee for a complimentary visual inspection.

I will update this next week.

LA, Need Roomate December

I am looking for a room mate for December and on.
My current room mate is getting married and moving out.

The place is between Hollywood and LA.

Rent is $750 plus utilities, and $750 for damage deposit.
So $1,500.00 to move in.

Gated parking that works and is safe.
Washer and Dryer on site ($1 a washer, $1 dryer)
3 downstairs units, 2 upstairs.
Hardwood floors, high ceilings, pretty roomy.
utilities are gas and usually come to around $50 a month (no cable)
your bathroom is off the hallway and your room is at the end of the hall.

I work in the film industry and may be at work for days on end or home chillin for days. No working on cars and no big parties.
having friends over is totally fine, no 420 though. landlord lives upstairs and is very nice but old school Armenian.
My girlfriend stays about every night and is very cool as well.
I believe it will be month to month.
Very clean.

SD - My Rant Tread

So I just wanted to rant and rave about something and felt this would be a good place to do it. So Monday I drop my car off at a body shop here in San Diego, not going to name it at this time but I feel it was a pretty shitty deal.

Ok so I bought a Origin Streamline kit for my S14. The front fit perfect but the sides and the rear not so much. The rear was bowed out and the sides were too short. So I took it into the shop and told them that I wanted it fitted and installed. They said ok, and they let me know that they would call me if they needed to do any major cutting or fiberglass work. So today at about 4 I call them to see how its going, they say its ready to go. So I was like awesome maybe its done. I get there and it look good, till I get close. The right side skirt fits awesome, except for the fact that the corners are all cracked ok ok nothin major. Same with the rear sides. Then he says oh the door is a little hard to shut, WTF the shit has to be Slammed! The side isnt even lined up and causes my door to not shut. OMG so now thinking thats it, he tells me oh the right rear has 3 stripped studs and the lugs are too. . WTF I just bought brand new 5Zigen open lugs and Ichiba Spacers and they stripped 3 of them. I just feel like it isnt right and all they said is they recommend I change my studs and lugs now lol. . :smash:
