The ultra quiet resonators are designed to be more than a resonator, but less than a muffler. We have put them on some high power cars with 3" exhausts and have always noted that the exhaust retains it's deep sound, but takes a big edge off, leaving it more "toned" and mellow.

I've found that bottle style resonators don't do much except take the edge off.
