DIDNT SEE NO FAQ's ABOUT THE N/A SR's, So here my share of a couple things:

Distributor rotor : nissan 200NX
Distributor cap: DOHC KA(must be mitsubishi equip) SE-R AND G20 caps wont work.
AND due to the direction of the port's you'll need the DOHC KA sparkplug wires
RWD-SR20DET/DE clutch are identical
DOHC KA PS can fit to SR20DE/DET , but you have to swap the tension bracket and pulleys

thats all i came across so far with my N/A SR.

one thing that would be helpful is the limitations of the heads in the diff sr's. if anyone knows that, that would be great. at what hp levels do you need to build a head and what is needed?

not a place for question, all facts....FAIL.

but check your vacuum lines... thats always the problem 75% of the time if your car tends to die out or have low idle @ stops.

I'm terribly sorry if this seems like a stupid question... I come from the eurocrowd where there are very little upgrades turbo wise. Now that I've recently joined the s13 crowd... the possibilities seems endless turbowise. Not only is the number of turbo's endless... but the actual turbos seem a bit over whelming. I'm familiar with the normal td04hl options(my volvo came with a 16t stock) and the borgwarner options on many vw's... but the common jap turbos are confusing.

1) what turbos bolt straight onto the exisiting sr20det manifold/downpipe?
2) since I'm familiar with the sizes of td04 mitsubishi turbos... what mitsubishi turbo is similarly sized with the stock t35. 13g? 16g?
3) t3/t4 turbos and t3/t04e turbo's are different? are they made by garrett? I'm starting to hear of turbo's I've never heard before... and I thought I had a pretty obscure turbo on my volvo(k24)

I would appreciate any help fellas. great forum!

Sr blocks use the upper oil pan for block reinforcement.

Sr20det motors really need an oil cooler. (track)

Oil Filter: Pull off the intake manifold support brackets under the manifold, or you will wish you never had to change your oil again.

sr20 motors dont like ka fuel filters (z32)

Dont raise the boost unless you have an aftermarket fuel pump.

Sr20det trannys are weak.

S15 trannys are even weaker.

Keep your ignitor away from heat (exhaust manifold)

When setting ignition timing with a light, timing marks on crank pully may not be accurate unless you zero the cas (cam angle sensor).

Invest in rocker arm stoppers.

T25 turbos suck.

You better do a good job rerouting the coolant line behind the head for the turbo. Because changing it while the motors in sucks.

ehh.

correction: only remove the intake manifold support bracket if you are going to remove the oil filter from underneath the car. if you want to go from up top and save a lot of time. buy a oil filter cap wrench and use your socket wrench to twist it off. now you wont have to wish that you never had to change your oil again.

Hello guys,
I own a '97 200SX S14 Silvia with a SR20DET Blacktop. The car is 45k miles and everything (and I mean everything in it is stock, to the last gasket). I want to do some slight upgrades.. and I'm wondering for example - can I install a blow off valve on the stock turbo (I think its T25) which is set on 0,6bars, without pushing the boost and without installing anything else (like boost controller and sh*t). Is that possible?

Question New to this thing

i know you most likely see this everyday and i hate doing this. I'm in the process of getting a 97 240sx se with the factory lsd. it has a ka24de which is from what i understand a great motor, but i was thinking about doing a sr20 or rb25 swap. the thing about it is, is that whats the advantages of doing either of these swaps verses keeping the ka? i mean all i want is a daily driver with a ass load speed. all i want to do is go fast. so with the dumb stuff out of the way and loads of room for making fun of me for this thread. what would you suggest and why?

If i wanted to mod an SR20DET to make it N/A, (basically temporarily - because the P-plate laws here restrict turbo cars :/ would have to keep it N/A for about 1-2 years so mods must be sustainable..) how much work would have to go into it? And how much would it roughly cost/how long would it take for me to get it all the mod work done..?

sorry if this has been mentioned, but i'm kinda busy right now and can't go through all the posts, i'm thinking about doing an SR swap, but i was wondering if you need the SR tranny, or if you can just keep the stock KA tranny, one of my friends told me the only difference is the ratios, but another friend told me it's a totally different tranny which is stronger to handle the higher power, so i don't know who to believe

Want the perfect little turbo upgrade

I was wondering what would be the best turbo upgarde for a stock SR? I would like to go as big as I can without having to upgrade really much around it maybe like injectors and a intake manifold not much more. if i dont need to. What should I do?

You can use tha KA tranny with the SR20, but you need to swap the KA bellhousing for the SR piece.
