I have a DIF version d fan controller wired to a mishimoto fan shroud with the 2- 12" fans... wired everything up correctly (at least I think). I then programmed the controller... it pulsed 4 times on setting "E". After programming it I sent the first fan to "A" and the second fan to "C"... only one fan came off. I then noticed a smell and looked at the controller to notice a little bit of smoke coming from the controller. It was super hot to the touch. I'm guessing the relay burnt up ? has anyone ever had this problem? |

Trader Rating: (5) Feedback Score: 5 reviews | My first dif controller burnt up, my second one was bad upon arrival, my third one has been working great for a little over two years. Just kick it back to fr sport IF it's truly damaged. But first make sure that you programmed it correctly. The directions are a little ambiguous, so make sure you have a firm understanding of them. I'd definitely get this controller again if I had to. Imho, it's worth it. |

| Premium Member ![]() | I bought one from FRSport a few months ago, and it was DOA, so I sent it back and got another one, which took a little while since DIF had to analyze it and make sure it was a faulty unit. I got a new one and it works fine, although I don't have the integrated relays powering the fans, I'm using it as a signal to power a set of standalone bosch relays. This way I won't have to worry about the amperage issue Sileighty_85 posted about. Ever since my transaction, I noticed FRSport stopped selling the DIF controller, probably due to the amount of issues with them. |

Trader Rating: (24) Feedback Score: 24 reviews | Yea I guess its either hit or miss with these controllers. It took me couple attempts to get the programming down but around the 4th time, the fans pulsed 4 times, followed the next steps, started the car, fan1 came on and then fan2.... shut the car off, fans were still going (30 second cool down feature). Next thing you know that 30 seconds turned into 3 minutes so as i went to pull the "B+" (power souce) off the box was burning hot and smoke started coming out of it. Unfortunately, since these controllers are discontinued, I never got a chance to buy it though frs or 240sxmotoring and got it through a member on here so im kinda SOL ![]() I went and purchased an imperial thermo fan control from advance this afternoon so we'll see how this goes. Anyone have any experience installing one of these ? |

What's the most that e-fans are drawing now a days? My Flex-a-lite 220 Black Low-Profile 12" Dual Fans draw about 20 amps (10 Per fan), and they keep my car at around 185-190 degrees. | |

| Leaky Injector ![]() | Just tap into condensor fan relay, and fans will automatically kick on at 195, i have dual fan setup on mine with 2 seperate bosch relays, use signal from ecu to trigger relays |

In my thread I talk about that and show the DIF PWM version which is rated at 60amps. which will handle the Dual FAL's which only pull around 32amps total
