SR help

Ok guys I have a bit of a problem

problem : When normal driving (easy gas saving) car seems fine. As soon as I try to give it gas to quickly pick up speed the car bogs and goes no where. The boost gauge still reads 7 pounds. Pops and backfires like crazy.

Befor this I have been havin this sound ( duck call) when I build boost. I assume that's the bov broken.

I'm at work so testing now is not a option but as soon as I get home I will do more detail checking. I belive it's either fuel or a boost leak. My pump has been whinning for a couple weeks and haven't had a problem since it started till now

If there's no smoke, the turbo's probably not the problem. Could certainly be timing, fuel pressure, dirty MAF, or a boost leak.

No smoke what so ever. On the ride home i was running only 5lbs of boost. I must have read gauge wrong due to being upset at the time .

Bout to do pressure up the piping and see where it leaks. Im home and have more tools for this car to work on than at work and i work at a machine shop lol.

Will update in a few.

Its possible for the bearings to be worn and not leak oil

Normally when you hear a whizzing/whinny noise when ever you hit boost its the compressor wheel making contact with the housing

That sounds like an ignition problem... misfiring. I had that happen on my mx6 turbo a while back and it was a bad plug wire. Check over the plugs and coil packs.

New problem. This morning when starting car. Exaust leak. I belive turbo-mani gasket is shot. major leak and sounds like poo. So untill i get one of them car will have to sit . Would the leak there cause the car to run like that? Also the turbo and mani get hot really fast prolly due to leak?

Do you have a cat? It could be clogged if the manifold is heating up faster than normal. this would also cause a gasket failure due to high back pressure.

After some more digging and squeezing my hand around. All 4 turbo to mani bolts are hand loose and 1 lost bolt outa the 4. Gonna get my hands in there tighten and test. More than likly gasket is shot but eaiser to try than remove all that is required .

All four bolts are now tightened. Still same problem any think over normal driving it will jus spit a sputter. Wont create over 4-5 lbs of boost. I changed the bov to a non rec because my rec was shot and had some leaks in it. Did a boost test and found no leaks. This is only when under a load does fine jus sitting there. I still have to do the fuel pump but it really feels like a boost leak. Seems to be getting fuel do to the popping and backfiring.

Yes minimal shat play. No oil in the turbo or anything. It has no problem spooling and the duck sound is now gone. That was the leak that made that sound.

your O2 sensor is bad replace that and everything should ok. and o yeah you might as well replace the spark plugs too. rich conditions causes your motor to bog when you step on it cause of your O2 sensor is bad. since its bad the ecu thinks that you need more fuel and sends out more fuel when you dont need it. this is why it bogs.

if its not that than check for boost leaks. another cause of it unless its not the maf.

I changed out the whining fuel pump. Seemed to stop the bogging. Will have the real test on the way to work tomorrow. Also cleaned all plugs and regaped them. They are less than 2xxx miles so will change them in a week or two.

Yes did all that. Runs fine jus couldn't drive it to work today due to the brake system leaked all my fluid out last night.

Car did driv and build boost last night with no bogging jus did not make 7lbs. That's prolly due to the only bov I Jad laying around is a cheapo bov that dosent hold the boost. Once I find I name brand bov it should be solved.

Yes , at least the bogging and falling on it's face was the pump going out not keeping the fuel pressure up.

The duck sound/ weird sound was the 4 bolts on turbo flange.

The not enough boost was between the flange and crappy bov. The flange is fixed and all I had laying around was another crappy bov that dosent seem to hold any more than 5-6 lbs.

I won't know for sure cause I only ran it 30 mins yeterday. Was gonna drive it to work this morn but my rear caliper busted and leaked all fluid over nite so gonna fix that this afternoon.
