| Zilvia Member ![]() | Would this overheat(sr 40 over) a friend of mine is selling me a completely rebuilt stock sr with a .040 over bore. he hasnt run the car yet and it has 0 miles. what i was wondering was, with a 4 core koyo radiator, plus a single 15" electric fan, and a 4x12 oil cooler. would this thing overheat, considering the radiator isnt clogged, water pump is top shape, and the entire cooling system is working up to par. i will be doing some freeway driving and i will be sitting in 80-90 degree traffic. this car will mainly be a street driver, and im not going to be pounding it all over the pavement |

| Zilvia Member ![]() | im not sure about the whole concept on how it generates more heat, but i know it generates more heat, possibly bc its closer to water jackets or something. from working on chevy's for a long time i noticed that when u bore out an engine past .020 over the engine runs noticably hotter. my 502 was running consistantly at 180. after doing a .030 over bore it now runs at 190-200 without changing any of the cooling system. i just rather be safer than sorry, there is approx 5gs in the engine with parts and labor, and i would hate to ruin it after a day |

I would say 200 to be on the safe side. | |
