Trader Rating: (3) | Hell, with the hardware and money you're putting into it, do it even if it DIDN'T overheat.

| i assume you can deck a block with all the internals still inside it? same with a head? my engine's overheated atleast once while i've owned it and i plan to do the gasket and all other bits when i do my cams. what other work should not be overlooked while you have everything apart???

| Premium Member ![]() | You can check the head yourself if you know how to use a feeler gauge. It should be in the FSM, basically you put a true flat level on the heads surface, then you feel the gaps with the feeler gauge, it should be within a certain spec. If not, then you need to get it decked. |

| KA-T > SR ![]() | yes you should regardless, your using a flat metal gasket now, and it'd really be in your best interest to just go a head and deck them so you have a smooth, flat surface for it to seal on. |
