Z33/VQ35 to SR20 Adapters in stock!

$430 shipped for the adapter plate!

Z33 Transmission to SR20 Adapter!

Hey Zilvia! We had a really good response to the original thread and we just got more adapters in!

These are the new Version 2 adapters. The new plates have a slight modification which allows a little more clearance with bottom mount turbos.

So why a Z33 transmission? Keep reading!

The gearing is superior to an SR/KA/Z32 transmission. All of the gears are shorter now so you won't find yourself stuck between 2-3 gear on courses any more. You can now leave it in 3rd gear and rip! Not to mention having a 6 speed transmission that is tough and not made of glass like any SR/KA transmission!

This transmission is also significantly stronger. There are local 9 second Z33's that have yet to blow a trans. STOP BREAKING STOCK TRANSMISSIONS! Check out the gear size comparison!

You will retain your SR Clutch/Flywheel. You do not need a Z33 clutch.

What you need for the swap:

-Adapter plate
-Transmission mount
-Driveshaft
-Shortened shifter bracket
-Modifying Z33 Bellhousing
-Stainless steel clutch line. There are many vendors out there who sell these.

Pricing:

Just the plate and hardware is $430 shipped

Additionally other mods are available in stages depending on what you want to pay for.

Bellhousing Machining. Not just any machine shop can do this because of the size of the bellhousing. $80 +ship

Shifter modification. You send in your shifter and it gets modified then sent back to you. $125 +ship

Transmission crossmember. You can retain the original rubber mount(aftermarket mounts will also work). $100 +ship

A video of the first drive.

The two-tone s13 in front has the Z33 trans installed.

ImportTuner feature on the car we did the prototyping on.

Once this is done, you become rad!

Nice I want a VQ tranny for my KA-T setup too! Can you guys make a whole kit so that it's just easier? Maybe with a core charge if we don't exchange.

The speedo conversion has already been done by a customer of ours. You will need an ABS diff and a dakota digital conversion box. You can also use the S15 diff and the procedure is the same as putting an S15 transmission in.

I'm wondering if I can use the sensor locations on the q45 r200 housings...as I have built a 4.6 and a 4.9 that I will be using...the both have the abs toothed rings on the output shafts. Any writeup on how to wire up that digital conversion box?

Nevermind found a pretty straightforward one on nico.

We had one of our customers install this kit and do some testing. You guys might know Rob Primo from the northwest. He has some very well built cars and he got a chance to drift with our Z33 kit. Read below to see what he has to say.

Quote:

Ok so I just got back from testing my new Z33 Transmission setup on my Blue car.

I did a couple short test sessions at Pacific Grand Prix today as there was a shift kart competition. For those of you who havent had the privilege to drive Pacific Grand Prix yet its mainly a 2nd gear course for most cars. However with this transmission setup I found myself forced to upshift to 3rd during turn 2. This was unbelievably fun as I had never upshifted mid drift in a RHD. I also found myself in 3rd gear when I would initiate on the straights and then downshift to 2nd once I cleared the corner (again very fun) when I would usually be in the top of second. I could probably get away with keeping it in third the whole time with the Z33 transmission but that would require a lot of clutch kicks on this course as there multiple hairpins. Anyway this setup makes this track even more fun so Im happy. With the engine setup being super responsive and then tied to this transmission the car is unbelievably quick.

Here is a raw clip of my second and final test session.

I still have 2 more adapters in stock and ready to ship out.

Right now we are focusing on developing the KA setup because they don't have a strong solution to a transmission. The RB guys at least have a beefy box available. We will work on the RB setup after the KA one releases.

*please note, these pictures are from the R&D plate. The plates we sell are refined design.

I read on a previous post that you said, The adapter plate cannot be thicker then "3/8". Any thicker and the input shaft on the Z33 wouldn't have made it into the SR pilot bushing." That does not seem to reliable if they are barley mating. I don't know if you mention this before but resurfacing 3/8" off the z33 transmission front flange will still have it engage entirely? send me an email regarding this at John@treadstoneperformance.com

The bellhousing is machined to accommodate the adapter. The reason we cannot make the adapter thicker is because we would machine too much off of the bellhousing and cause a weak point in the system. I'd be happy to explain it in depth. Give me a call if you are interested, it's hard to type out why the thickness is what it is.

Here are a few guys using our setup.

Martin Ffrench in his SR20 powered Altezza. This fine gentleman also won RD1 of the Drift Allstars series in the UK.

Another guy you might recognize is Walker Wilkerson who is KILLING it in Formula D this season. He's well on his way to rookie of the year.

We have also LOWERED the price to $420 shipped for the adapter plate.

Local AZ native Mike Burns wins using a Z33 Adapter!

In his first event with the new Z33/SR20, XDC and Pro-Am competitor took the win at Vegas Drift Pro-Am RD2. Mike fought hard throughout the night and eventually reigned supreme.

It's hard to miss his slammed "Team Burst" styled car. Watch for it in upcoming XDC and Pro-Am events!

Hi George.

quick question about fitting the Z33 gearboxes into S13's whithin the trans tunnel the mount for the cross member is spot welded up and around the tunnel. the box seems to be to big for this area, how have you gone about making it fit?

You can use the ABS signal in the diff similar to what needs to be done when swapping an S15 transmission.
