was messing around in the garage and came across some brand new zenki dmax fenders, probably going to sell them. Just got to see what they are going for. Almost ready to start on my rebuild.

I'm unsure whether to get 6k or 5k lol. Might just go with 5k because it seems like I won't get as much shit from cops.

Also, I'm guessing the slim ballasts have nothing to do with the actual lights and their output, just easier to place them somewhere right?

Yea, i wanna go 5k for that reason and plus its sticking more white light which i like. and yea slim ballast are usually easier to place somewhere.

Speaking about HIDs, I bought the $35 from ebay and didn't install it for like a year? When I finally did the left side didn't work -____-"

I got 8k too..pretty much bright white on the side that did work, but you guys talking about 5k/6k being white? I guess mine was wrong or something =/

I have Mod Express 6000k's normal sized ballast that I've been using since 2007 Dec. same bulb and ballast. I also have the relay kit for the HID. They have been working fine for me all these years, granted I don't drive at night very often but when I do use them, they never failed me.

DDM Tuning stuff is good too. If I were to buy HID kid again, I'll buy 5000K in 55W with relay harness kit and normal sized ballast from DDM Tuning. They are very good quality products IMO, I've seen many kits from them and I have several friends that's been running them for couple of years with out any problems.

Yea i was on the ddm site and was wondering what that relay harness kit was, its for the high beam, low beam right? Also may i ask why would you rather get the regular sized ballast opposed to the slim?

no, it's to take power from your battery direct to power up the ballast instead of drawing power from your headlight wiring. your headlight wiring now acts as signal to turn the relay on to power up the ballasts. I always recommend that to anyone interested in HID kits as it makes the most sense for me why you need it to have a fail-safe HID system. and also it'll get rid of any HID flickering due to low power input's and most faults when it comes to HID's.
So, yes do get the harness kit.

the said "relay harness kit" is the link above. and it does explain a little.

ahh ok thanks alot really apperciate it! Now I will add that to the cart when I buy it! No wonder why my old crappy ebay hid kit would always flicker for a bit when i turn my headlights on. Very useful and informative, thanks again mad-ass

i personally never had a flicker issue with the 35w (lower power) HID kits from DDM tuning. that might just be me though (using the normal headlight harness)

I ordered full size ballast simply because mod express did not offer it in 2007. Lol and they used to have their product videos showing them fully submerging the ballast into a tank of water while its turned on and still work. And also hammer tested while its powered on amd so fourth. I basically said
"shut up and take my money"

Lol

Now I did have slim ballast with external ignitor from phillips or bosche for my s13. Also did not have problem with them. Maybe because it was high end name brands or the use of relay kit...idk but it never gave me any problems.

I have DDM 8k's in my kouki... They work great. The 8's are very bright white, not really any blue in them at all. And they arent blinding like most HID kits. Spend the little extra and go with the slim ballasts, they look way nicer and are like half the size of the normal ballasts.

I'm running DDM in the kouki headlights now. My only gripe with them is that when I turn them on for the first time, they'll flicker on, then turn off. I'd have to turn the lights off, then on again to reignite the bulbs and they'll turn on like theyre supoosed to.

Finally mounted rear overs and got the rear bumper to fit. Waiting on paint gun and some cooler weather to shoot hood and fenders.

Charles, I hope you have some footage to show us
May I ask what diff and shafts you are using? I'm on old skyline shafts & diff so the a little short. There clunking like mad too. You had any issues with yours?

In the end I've got someone to machine me some up. Psm are out of stock for a while.

Same thing happens with my non-DDM tuning HID's. Guess it just happens.
