My opinion? They look IDENTICAL to Advan RGII's. Which are fucking awesome.

Never heard of Rebs Sport.

That's blatantly a knock off if Ive ever seen it.
They say imitation is the best form of flattery. That's only true if your not trying to make a buck riding someones coat tails.

I was looking into getting some because they do make them in a 17/18 as well, but the place in LA that carries them only offers 19's. Sizes are pretty decent and prices are cheap. They come from Korea I believe. Rebs Sports in a sub division I believe. Not the actual manufacturer

You want our input? Don't buy shitty knockoff products.
If you like this wheel design, save up and buy Volks. Buying the weak ass copies undermines our industry, cuts the legs out from under us. No company is going to want to do their own design, testing, and research if they know that at anytime someone else can just blatantly STEAL their hard work.

Or save your money and get real wheels. Reds Sports? Is that a cross between Weds Sports and Rays? Sigh. Knock offs.

I hope the mods delete the OP's sig. its fucking annoying to see while I'm scrolling down.

The brand name itself is already lame. . .

any thread relevant to knock off wheels turns into an endless argument between the cheap and the wise.

Lets please talk about the wheels and not my sig dam ..
I will def buy " real wheels " if my car wasnt DD or if there wasnt so many pot holes. Because if i scratch or bend a 2000 setof wheels ill be very PISSd. then end up selling them on here for 1/4 of the price. so when a nice rep wheels like these comes out and i have them on my car and accidently park to close to the curve ill just easly and the forget about it. and

Or just learn to drive instead?

I've never understood the "daily driver" argument for not buying genuine parts.

Not giving a shit about brands, only looks = legitimate argument to not buy genuine parts.

I never understood why I should buy wheels that are valued more than my car just to please a bunch of elitist pricks.

Must be an age thing.

And FWIW the only knock off part on my car are my wheels.

And OP, nice looking wheels.

maybe you should just change your attitude and seek quality in the products you pay your hard earned money for?

why support copycats instead of innovators?

Because there is no such thing as innovators. People are just reinventing the wheel calling it something new.

y'all can kiss my ass; people buy whatever they want and whatever makes them happy, I am the one that eats - therefore I am the one that gets full.

so you are saying that rays doesn't do any research, testing or design? that their particular six spoke wheel should be able to be copied by any and every one who wants to???

Nice knockoffs - I've had the pleasure to have both Rota's and Volks. Sold my Rota's to a friend new (never mounted) and yeah the front wheel started leaking air after 6 or so months... Go to check it out and yeah 3 hairline cracks which in the end just kept coming back.. Moral of the story is yea they might look nice but abuse them and you might find out the hard way what a broken wheel feels like when in rotation.. One of my Volk GTC's were slightly bent (or appeared that way) and no problems at all... My thinking is where one wheel bends to stress the other would crack!

What I'm saying is that Rays manufactures wheels for professionals, who road race and require high end wheels needed for the rigors of that profession. They aren't making wheels for the average consumer such as you and I, there is no money in us. The bulk of their money is coming from Race Teams and Auto Manufactures that use their product. That money far exceeds their cost in research, design and the production of their wheels. We as a consumer don't support that to the extent that you feel we do.

You also have to consider that Rays has a manufacturing process in place. It’s the same process used for each wheel. It's not like they are recreating a new process each time they make another wheel. The process doesn't change, thats being cost effective. The design does and they test to make sure that the design meets the standard set by the professional, again not you or I

90% of the people on this forum do not require that level of quality and to suggest that it is needed, required by every person who owns a 240 is foolish. I don't drift, I don't road race, I don't need legit $2K-$3K wheels to take me to and from work or to Wal-Mart during the weekends.

Food for thought, if Rays really had a problem with company's knocking off their design, why don’t they sick their legal hounds on that company? It is a copy right infringement after all. More than likely Rays sold the design to someone else to make knock-offs. WIN-WIN says me.

Cheers!
G.

while you are fully entitled to your opinion, you must realize that motorsports is a test-bed, not a money maker. you think race teams pay retail for the wheels they get??? highly unlikely. usually there is a sponsorship deal in place. the average consumer provides the bulk of the manufacturers income. while i understand your desire to maximize the distance that your dollar goes, buying bottom-shelf wheels is not the answer. CLEARLY you don't want to spend $2-3k on a set of wheels, but a set of gram lights is now in the $15-1600 range, rpf1's can be found in the $1k range, fn01-r also in the $1k range.

once again, the issue is with your lack of desire to purchase a quality product.

as far as the legality issue, that is an entire other thread altogether, but the long and short of it is its very difficult to sue a company in another country that is infringing on a domestic patent/trademark/copyright. (especially if the copier is in china, they give none fucks about knocking off protected goods)
