i dont see how that gets an accurate smog reading with the vehicle passing by so quick i dont think this system will work well at all

The problem with that is, they can't measure how much throttle you are giving it as well as what speed you are going. Not to mention exhaust pipe location.

Hello, welcome to two years ago. This is old fucking news and its not a big deal, it does not mean you will get a ticket , it does not mean you will be taking a mandatory test.

It basically will inform them of A: how many real smog polluters are on the road and B: They will be able to send you a notice saying your car is out of emission standards and suggest you fixing it.

You're an idiot or a stupid 16 year old if you just discovered it now. Plus you posted this in the wrong section it belongs in regional as its a California thing.

So in other words you fail twice go back to the back of the classroom.

In CA smog is big bucks. It is an easy way for the government to collect money.

Fail?
Go to a smog station and pay money OR modified cars have to take it to a Referee.
Or fix it ticket/ref ticket.

there are too many variables that could cause a false negative, one this is this is los angeles, and well our air is the cleanest in the country. if any tickets are issued they will be thrown out on numerous grounds.... sounds like the state got ripped off by this company who offers this service. the true way to get a valid reading is to hook up the sniffer, check the timing, and blah blah.
