SR What turbo are you using on your SR

I want to change from my stock T28, and im wondering what turbo's are ppl running on their SR's, besides the gt2871r.

The road here in Nassau arent very long, so running a big turbo like a gt35r is a stretch. What do you guys think?

Internally, all ive changed is bc cams 264 in/exh

An S15BB or a GT2860/GT2871 is going to be your best bet unless you are going for big power.

If the 2871 isn't enough, look at a 3076 or something.

Personally, I have a fucking T25 and I hate my life.

it depends if you wanna change the manifold/go rotated because staying t2 limits your options. and dont quote me but i believe the 2876r is the biggest you can go before you need to go t3 or t4 style flanges.

the 2871r has many different types of varieties...and also precision makes hybrid types as well. i wont go into the specifics but the reality is for daily fun driving they are more than enough for the average joe (and sometimes too much power for the local dumbass).

the possibilities are enldless and needless to say it depends what kind of power you are looking for and what style flange you wanna be. and then adding the supporting mods and tuning after the upgrade.

dont feel bad, power is very over-rated. you can have a motor setup that is complete tits, and be a fail-driver behind the wheel.. needless to say you know what the results are.

furthermore, you can spend all that time and money on one aspect of the car, e.g. just motor, and have a car that is loose like a hookers twat and difficult to control.

if you ask me, a lot of the folks on the forums (me included) and improve their vehicle's performance by doing simple things like spending more time behind the wheel AND/OR more time tuning the entire car and not just the motor.

with all that bullshit said, i run a stock s15 spec-r turbo.

i cant imagine needing more than a 2871 on the street. i dont really have any SR experience, but i have to think that a 30r is going to be pretty laggy on an SR?? i have a 3076 on my rb25, and its pretty good. but any more lag and i would loose my mind. that may sound crazy to some people, but im just not big on turbo powerbands.

Very true.

I was out cruising with a friend last night and he has a built SR + 60 trim making pretty big power and I realized that while it would be awesome to make 500+, I don't want a car with more power than it can put down.

I'd be happy with around 330whp, anything else would be excessive. Plus, I like to have some kind of response and that car is ultra laggy.

If I had a choice I'd have a Spec-R turbo or a PE1420.

This may be true for some people but I guarantee that most people, once they upgrade to a mid-sized turbo, it gets old after a while. Eventually the craving for more power always sets in. I ran a 2871r w/stock cams at 325hp and then went up to 400 with cams. I've had a 2871r setup for about 2.5 years. I'm going to want to go to a 30r next summer.

One day you will be racing another 240 with more power than you and you will say damn, I'm going bigger.

yea if you want to make power, but still have a mostly usable power band than your best bet is GT3071R/76. Tho i've seen quite a few motor sets pushing righ under 400whp on GT2871R .86 a/r. which is really impressive, but i'm sure that turbo is running near its limits all the time.

i do believe gt2871r is the best and most usable turbo for a sr. b/c with .64 a/r you can make pretty decent power, and have very low lag. or bump it up .86 a/r and just about make 400whp.

I really enjoy driving my buddies car. Stock SR with s14 t28 and walbro fuel pump . Same lag as T25 but way more punch. I plan on running S15 turbo on my motor. Low lag, 300+whp will be plenty until i graduate from college and move up to a real track set up.

2871r .86. i really haven't had time to really drive and get on it, becuase of fuel problems, but from i have felt it's going to be more then ill even need for the street. My car is so light and having over 350hp is a lotta fun. Anything more and im sure i will get into alot of trouble on the steet.

again like someone said.
power is nothing unless you can handle it.
Ive had under 300 hp for long time. less power is more fun.

Every one says a 2871 cause u can bolt it to a stock sr manifold and make high 300's with mods. Its the easiest way to go thats y everyone goes with the 2871
