RB S13 to RB25 build - now with ghetto frame bending technique!

Since i got this car last year, i have held off the urge to swap something into it. Everyone else had Sr's and i had my shitty sohc KA that made a whopping 94 horse up here at 5,000 feet above sea level. Instead of swapping, I spent the last year concentrating on just driving. Learning the car, technique, lines, and learning to drift.

as she sat for the last year:

Season is over (at least in NM), and i think i am ready to step up to power. Time to build. Started in november of 08.

teh rb

too many people, not enough hands lol, awesome shot nonetheless, and thanks to those that helped pull the worlds ugliest motor out.

out with the dash

started sanding

for some reason, the rad. support was bondo'd together, and exploded when we tried to straighten her out.

how we straightened the frame. unsafe ghetto action is awesome on a sunday.

the hack job some may consider a repair (PO)

more carnage

rust rust rust

engine going in from the bottom

cock size? maybe

custom ish

motor mounts done, engine in

had to make a trans mount (more bracing on them to come later)

Busted ass rad support = lame

temp reassemble of the front end was needed

begin fab!

how to make amazing:

step 1 use sharpe to make strange marks

step 2 drill said marks

step 3 profit...

headlight brackets done.

(update as of 2/08/09)
Now I have until March 7th to finish. Shit.

My intercooler is 1000% more JDM than anyone else's. Why? It fucking says so goddammit.

Finished sanding, primer this weekend. Started wiring. more to come.

That chassis is pretty fucked up, but it appears that it is in more than capable hands.

The process pics had me thinking "Oh fuck, this is gonna turn into a piece of shit with a cool motor..." but now that I see you can do dimples and shit, and your work looks good I've reversed that idea.

Are you gonna paint the engine bay or are you gonna say something like "FORM OVER FUNCTION! I can't spend money blah blah *cry*."

we will for sure be painting the entire car... engine bay included

The rest of the car minus the front end is pretty damn straight.

Primer is going to be shot this friday, so hopefully paint next weekend.

I bow to your welding skills (as I still suck at clean welds) , and so should your S13. It owes you its life. Looks good bud. GL with the completion!

Haha cool stuff man.

there is lots of bolt on stuff that fits without making it custom fabrication, but i guess nothing hurts, like making your transmission mount, and other things

looks good!

haha I saw this piece of shit on zip-tied... I still sit mezmorized that such good fab work was done on such a bad chassis, but it's not like you're trotting around your newborns with it so cheers to you for a bad ass job.

Having your intercooler slanted like that is not a good idea at all. I had that on an s13 with a 4-row IC, and had overheating issues even with a taurus fan on low speed. My HG was fine, no water in oil, and had no leaks, straightened my FMIC out and air could finally flow a straight path to my radiator. Car neve roverheated again.

Just some friendly advice. Nice custom rad support... you should have modded it further out so you could run Puller fans.... Pusher fans are gay and inefficient. Also, where did you get your intake manifold?

we haven't welded them in yet, in case we need to make minor adjustments to the support. now that everything is painted we can assemble the front end to make sure everything fits, then remove motor and paint!
