Stanza seats

I couldn't find any previous topics regarding Stanza seats, so here's some info for other poor people.

Finding used S14 seats in this area is hard to do. Impossible to do at Pick-n-Pull. Auto salvage shops want $300-400 for a set. When they do come up on craigslist, they're still expensive.

OEM S13 seats are probably the worst seat put in any car ever. So, I walked around the local Pick-n-Pull looking for other seats that might fit and ended up buying a set of seats from a 1991 Stanza for $70.

before cleaning:

After cleaning:

The OEM Stanza seat rails don't line up to the floor mounting locations on the 240sx. I took the seats rails from the 240sx seats and mounted them to the bottom of the stanza seat frame. The Stanza seat is a probably about 20mm wider than a 240sx seat, so that made the new seat/rail combination not line up correctly. I corrected this by putting some washers inbetween the seat rail and seat frame to effectively move the rail inwards a bit. I probably added 8mm of washers and just used some man strength to get the holes to line up while I put the bolts in.

Also, another result of the wider seat was that the wire connecting the seat position locks under the seat didn't fit anymore. This is easy to correct with some pliers.

As for the seats themselves, they're definitely a bigger seat than the OEM S13 stuff. They sit just a little bit higher, but they're way more comfortable and don't look like ass. For the price I payed, I'm happy with it for the time being.

s13 seats dont hug you. they treat you like you're on a lateral slip n slide anytime you're in a turn. and if i didnt know any better, i would've said they were s14 seats. nice job man.

I don't think any of the above mentioned seats have much in the way of lateral support.

These are pretty similar to S14 seats in terms of shape.

I didn't buy these with lateral support in mind... It was more to get rid of the S13 seats which were falling apart, horribly uncomfortable for my back, and probably the ugliest seats ever made.

They are more comfortable and more supportive. I'm sure the padding in my S13 seats was pretty beat down, but the padding in the stanza seats, both in the ass and the back, is much better so it offers a lot more support. Plus, you can see that the side bolsters are bigger than S13 seat bolsters, which aren't much of bolsters at all.
