^^

why don't you try to call the local police department of the towns your passing thought, for a escort. not because you need it but because it would be bitching.

Just out of curiosity, for those of us that are coming from out of state, I know we don't have to meet Cali restrictions, but how much of a chance is there of the local PD's giving us a hard time about having modified cars? I'm aware that legally we don't have to meet the smog restrictions and other limitations, but you know sometimes cops can be..... As for the unavoidable statement about not acting like an idiot and you won't have a problem, I'm well aware of the best way to avoid this, I'm just asking to cover my bases.

Police in CA won't be able to issue tickets like modified exhaust, etc. Speeding and reckless driving are obviously enforcable, but stuff like illegal modifications aren't enforcable by CA peace officers. As long as you've got a cat on your car (which I'm fairly certain is required on all 50 states), and your out of state plates and license (both of which had better be valid, along with car insurance), you're set.

Sam and I will be setting up a poll soon. Then you all will be able to put more of a direct input on the whole meet.

When I first moved back to Socal from Arizona, I was running open downpipe for about a month, and never got hassled. Then I moved to Huntington Beach, and was running a 3inch catback with a big cannon, and I got pulled over/followed alot. Usual questions were things like:
"What brings you to California?"
"How long have you been here?"
"How long are you planning on staying?"
Simple shit like that.

Now I'm running a stock exhaust (still have AZ plates), and cops only follow/stop me because they're confused by the piston swinging from my tow hook. lol

You'll be fine. If you do get stopped, they'll ask questions for a couple of minutes and send you on your merry way.

i personally think it should be in the summer just because not all universities go on SB at the same time, and seeing as its aimed to be a national event, summer might work better since students can just plan on taking the summer semester off. I dunno, just me maybe.

Something else to consider is that there are going to be people crossing the Continental divide to get there. It is completely possible for there to be snow storms in the mountains all they way into June. Especially for those heading down from Canada and the Northern States.

Performance tires and the cold don't mix. Add snow to the equation and you have a deadly combination.

Also consider that Canadian 'reading week' (Spring Break) takes place mostly in February. I know from trips in the past that schools from Washington, Minnesota, Wisconsin and other places have their spring break in February as well.

These are good points. I will discuss it with Sam and Kevin. Thank you! This is the feedback that helps us!

I don't have a cat, don't believe that its a requirement to have one here. We don't have inspections, and nobody has ever said anything about how it sounds or anything. I've told cops that I don't have one and they don't do anything about it.

Yah i would prefer summertime. Because it just snowed in my city. Like absolutely dumped snow yesterday(30cm in less than 12hrs) And im on summertimes. I am 1.5 hrs from the mountains so the mountains would be even worse.

Silly Canadians...nobody cares that you live in a frozen wasteland...it's your own damn fault.

As far as Spring Break goes, late February to early April for most US Colleges. But, one thing to remember...you'll never be able to please everyone, and to attempt that will only lead to insanity. I think the last 2 weeks in March or first week in April will be easiest on college students. No school for me, so I don't care when it is.

It rained the other day here in SoCal too.
And the track was pretty cold last week. (freezing cold in the morning.)

i just think if people are coming to SoCal, summertime is what they want.
Alot of guys will be making this there only big trip for awhile.
So lets make sure to have good sun, and all the Californina summertime things everyone thinks of.

Well the way I look at it if it is going to be held in the spring you might as well just call it the "California 240SX Convention" and drop the 'National' label all together.

Too many potential attendees are in school etc.

I have a question....what do you all think of having Pinks cater the event on Saturday? I know they cater if you have a certain amount. They are a CA hotspot and are world famous. Kinda like In & Out. Just in one local. haha.

EVERYTHING under the sun is being discussed...believe me! hahaha. We have a lot of details to go over.
