nice work on the painting man. I like sherwin williams, dupont and nason, I never used ppg, omni or shop line. Alot better than a dupli color paint job. To me those dupli color paint jobs look like shitty single stage paint job or a rattle can paint job in a gun.....

just open the phone book and look for body shop paint supply. Find something local, they can help you better with questions and advice.

the dupli colour system ... the problems i've had, it chips easy, needs tons of prep and wet sanding.

Nice work, as always gsracer.

I've said it so many times before, and I'll say it again.

BUY YOUR OWN DAMN SET UP.

Spray your car for under $1,000 using REAL shit that shops use, and you end up with a compressor, spray gun, sander, and a TON of other shit.

Trial and error, obviously.

Once you have that shit on lock down, spray your buddies cars.

Start spraying cars for neighbors, relatives, friends, anybody.

Turn that $1,000 investment into profit.

Turned this:

Process:

Into this:

Last picture was taken when the car was dusty as hell from sitting in the garage.

But, you get the point.

That was the first car I ever sprayed.

Now, I'm spraying my current shell, a few friends cars, and my own next month.

If you wanna first try it out, borrow a compressor and buy a cheap gun from Harbor Freight.

If you like it, buy a real set up and turn it into a profit.

Here's the gun I'm using.

$100, but I have a hook up at Lowes.

So, it was free.

I recentley painted my car with the duplicolor paint shop system. I still havnt wetsanded it yet it should look 10x better after i do. This was my first time ever doing any kind of body work. I wouldnt recommend this paint for anything other than a beater or track car, for just a little more money you can get much better paint.

Pros:
No mixing
easy to spray
easy to touch up or repaint
fairly cheap

Cons:
This stuff is super thin, expect to use about 5 quarts of each step.
the laquer doesnt seem to be very durable.
limited color selection

Crimson, you notice the streaks on the hood?

You can get rid of that next time you paint by even strokes and even height when spraying.

Try to spray half on, half off the surface.
Like.. start spraying half off the panel, then the next stroke overlaps halfway.

Takes a lil time and practice.

but I'm sure you;ll get it if you didnt get it by now.

Also, spraying another half coat in the opposite direction..
like... inside of up and down... side to side.

Silver is a hard color to spray evenly though, so I can't blame you.

the clear makes it all come together though

I know about the streaks.

When spraying it, I noticed it immediately, but didn't have much time to correct my error.

No biggie though.

The car is coming back to correct minor mistakes(the hood mainly) and other things that weren't done right.

Trial and error.
