LED bulbs for taillights

Yo zilivians, I was wondering if anyone has tried this out before. Cause I'm broke and I don't want to spend $400+ on a set of 180sx lights. I found this site that distributes bulbs that are plug and play

http://www.superbrightleds.com/1157.htm

So all I do is just replace the top four and the bottom ambers?

The ones I've seen are nowhere near as bright as the OE bulbs, and the changeover from parking to brake is barely visible. So if you like being rearended, go for it.

^^Yeah, and they're expensive as fuck.

But...Mike knows what he's doing and he's work is quality.

You get what you pay for, and in clearcorners case you get top of the line. I mean shit, the guy retrofits lights for Lambos and Ferraris. If it's good enough for a quarter-of-a-million sports cars it's sure as hell good enough for a 15 year old 240sx.

I have the half red half clear (coupe) and I have led's for the turn signals and reverse. Nice bright white. For the park/brake I used OEM cause it's brighter and safer.

I just ordered some bulbs from V-LEDS: http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/P...id/0/SFV/32481

They shipped very fast and the bulbs are extremely bright, but very focused. If you're going to be using it in the taillights you may want to find a model that is better diffused or has the diodes pointed in different directions.

It's not that it's not bright enough to shine through the red, its that the light shines only on a very small area of the plastic. It looks like four circular spot lights shining on the middle of the tail lights. I used to have them, I went back to regular light bulbs.

the LED bulbs doesnt work well with tail lights. They make one spot light up good and do not spread out the light very well. Which is what you dont want.

You want some lights thats bright and spreads. So your entire tail light, lights up when you brake and whatnot.

So if you want to just drop 1157 or 1156 LED bulbs in your stock tail light, dont. Its a waste of money. Regular bulbs are better for the application.

If you want cheap LED tail lights, get the ebay knock off lights. Just tint them or something and make them look unique and less ricey.
