I think this is overpriced, what about you?

http://honolulu.craigslist.org/oah/pts/697951135.html

Discuss. I don't think they are worth 3500. Can get 18 inch works, SSR, etc. Even with the custom sizing, and offset, I don't think it's worth it.

That's just one example, of how peeps in Hawaii price their shit. Sometimes, I don't know what people are thinking.

Well you are stuck on an "Island"

Shipping ain't cheap son.

Especially when you out in the middle of the Pacific ocean.

He's probably trying to make some dough on the wheels! I hated guys like that when I grew up there on the Big Island. Bad enough everything has to be shipped in. Probably why I haven't moved back.......yet!

Definitely not worth 3500...but I don't know about being in hawaii and how that changes things... all I know is I bought a brand new set of Volk GT-C in 19x9.5/19x10.5 for 2500 a couple years ago.

When I replaced the rears for a lower, custom offset from Japan... i paid around $1300 shipped (could be a lil more, I can't remember exactly):

If you want Volks... i highly recommend going to Chris @ F1 Motorsports. Great pricing and great customer service.

Where? in Hawaii?

Because I know here on the continent only a moron would pay that price... b/c they obviously didn't do their homework. 18" Volks don't cost 3500.

That is true. Supply and demand. To think what would happen to this world, if we didn't have stupid people, with a lot of money.

Not really true. I just bought a set of fno1's, and shipping for all 4 was 165 dollars, via FedEx. 7-10 days, to get to my door. I'm sure this guy paid a lot more, if he got them shipped directly from Japan, but still. 3500 is overkill.

I agree, but there are alot of kids that blow their parents money like water there in the islands. They are lazy and just want the item, instead of doing the research and finding lower prices! Most of them expect to pay higher prices and dont question it.

I moved away from Hawai'i back in '97 and to this day, even my brothers pay sometimes 1 1/2 to 2 times the amount they should cause they can get it now from someone there!!

wheels

I know shipping on a set of wheels is expensive. Has to go airfrieght from the states (no ground shipping available, LOL!) Still seems a little high.

Custom sizes don't cost anything extra than normal sizes when it comes to multipiece wheels

it's more expensive as you get larger obviously...but like...17x7 +40 and 17x10.5 +12 don't really cost that much different from eachother

"Custom Volks" is basically just ordering a wheel from RAYS that retailers don't normally supply... there's nothing custom about it... the specs of your wheels will be from their dimension chart that you have to follow. No such thing as "custom volks being $$$"

Hawaiian240: I see what your saying... this seller is obviously posting a price to see if he can snag one of those people you just described.

That's why it helps if you have friends on the mainland, that can take a look at the car for you. What you said is true though, so much more worth it, to buy cars from the mainland.

We used to fly to Oregon, buy a truck(1 ton turbo deisels), ship it back to the Big Island and it still was cheaper than the dealers at home(with price of the trip included)!

FYI,

MSRP for a set of 17x9/10 GTV in RMC finish is $3200

Also, he is including a set of Volk GT Centercaps, which is MSRP $30 per cap (so $120 for a set of 4)

So MSRP for wheels + caps is $3320

Even if you factor in a "normal discount" off + factor shipping to Hawaii, that's still a semi realistic price

I'm sure he's bumping it up for lowballers to counter offer, but it's not ridiculous by any means

Also, you can still get +13 offset (Face A front + rear)

http://www.rayswheels.co.jp/cgi-bin/...?modelName=GTV

I wouldn't blame the guy though, I'm pretty sure the shop or whoever sold them to him might have given him the wrong info in regards to being discontinued, etc

Salt Lake in Hawaii is awesome

I remember going fishing in the stream at Moanalua Gardens lol

Catching da kine tilapia, li'dat!

Don't eat it though! Haha
