240RS Painted!!!

The 240RS recieved a paint job yesterday courtesy of Modestas Latoza, the Lithuanian paintmaster (and Tom, the CZ tri-axle driver). It used to be 7 shades of white but now it finally looks "crispy", as my early 20's (down with the latest trends) friends Pierre and Russ would say. I think it will stand out. It is almost identical to the Porsche "mexico blue" that never came to the US. Adam HH at Magicrobots.com picked out the shade. Once the wheels are resprayed and the white vinyl installed, the exterior will be complete. I don't have the front or rear underaero (or the schrouding right after the front wheels) on in these pics so it looks a little off. High boost tuning and corner balancing/alignment will commence early in the week.

Modestas, the painter

I thought I saw a video VERY recently where you guys wrecked this car?

Does exhaust temps mess with the temp on the tires?

Looks good, but I would have probably chosen some GT3RS "frog green" if it were me.

Interested to see how fast this S13 can really go.

BTW - you still using the S13 rear subframe, or you go to the S14 one?

For some reason your car reminds me of the old school Technix kit model cars. Anyways, color is super bright. If they cant hear you coming, they will defiantly see you.

This time last year, the front suffered some damage. The exhaust is heatsheilded with 2800 degree material so the tire should be fine. We'll see on the track though.

Your next big task should be to make some crazy functional aero for the car out of dry carbon. Something along the lines of a Super GT type body.

Good to hear, I saw a whole build thing on the car and fell in love with it. Then a friend showed me a video of the car wrecking.

When do you think the car will be back on the road?

I like that green too, but the blue has always been one of my favorites.

I'm interested as well And I am still using the S13 subframe. What is different about the S14 one?

I'm pretty sure the HP1/HP4 Fram Racing Filters are used by more racers than any other in this country. They are also available at most part stores. I've heard plenty of people say they read somewhere on the internet that fram filters are made of paper so they can't be good. Every filter is made from some form of paper. I also use filters for only 200 miles or so and cut them open every time they are changed. They always look good to me.

Fram HP1/HP4 filters are constructed differently from their current street filters, hence why they are still worth a shit.

I'm not feeling the blue man, especially with the white wheels. It looks kinda like it belongs in the "smurfs" cartoon. With black wheels and more black trim/accents it would look good. The s-14 subframe has less anti-squat and a better toe curve. Unfortuanetly it is not a direct bolt-on solution though. You need off-center subframe bushings I believe and something tells me it would be a bit of a PITA to get it centered right.

With that rear end still being chopped you have the potential for some radical rear angle on the rear diffuser for low speed stuff.

I cant wait to see this thing with some GTP type shit like we were talking about on the phone.

Lets see some innovation from the original wind tunnel ground effects car that Mario Andretti drove.

The S14 rear subframe has WAY less anti-squat than the S13(which seems to have "an asston" by eyeballing it and taking some rough measurements.

Not sure what the S13 toe curve is like, but Epstein measured the S14 toe curve with the traction rod shortened a bit and it was nice and flat.

The subframe is about 3/8" wider than the S13 one, but I'm sure with your fab skills/resources that's a minor issue.

I have done some thinking and I have decided that I am not convinced that the fact that the s-14 rear toe curve has less overall toe change is necessarily a good thing. The s-13 curve gains more toe in under compression and loses more toe in under droop. This effectively increases the scrub angle of the rear tires, in relation to the direction of inertia, which in theory makes the rear of the car "fight" to stay in line more. It also allows you to run less static toe-in while retaining the same dynamic effects while cornering. That theoretically means the same corner exit speed (or more) with a higher speed at the end of the straight due to the reduced amount of rolling resistance thanks to the ability to run less static toe-in. I believe you want the right amount of toe change rather than the least amount of toe change.

These mexican guys drove up and were like "it look like a smurf"

I love it

Luke,
I saw that Andretti Lotus at lime rock a few weeks ago. It was insane...side skirts and tunnels. We are working on the rear now but the potential for a long & tall diffuser is not there with the rear diff and sway bar. It will most likely start at the sway bar and head north at 12 degrees.
