Working on the electrical system now and also trying to save some money for the motor. Wiring will commence in the next few days. The new diagrams are made and I'm excited to lay the new harness out.

The main panel which houses all switches, breakers and relays. Two 32 pin connectors move all power and signals throughout the car.

Thread is sick, I love your shop truck!

Do you know if anyone makes reams for import ball joint tapers? I saw you mentioned that you were going to switch to domestic but SPL made you some that would work with the factory taper.

I'm not sure otto. I don't even know what the actual taper is. Thanks for the truck love! We call her Old Mother Hubbard. Here are some pics of various things I've done to her over the years.
Gearbox bearing replacement. Thats a Subaru 5MT 1st gear next to the Eaton Fuller.

Intercooled her last year for some extra MPGs.

I finished the mods to the cooling system that needed to be done. The microprocessor control for the EWP is wired in as well as a few other small things. One of the last major things to do is the front end. I have been waiting for a hood for like 5 weeks now and I need that as its the only stock mounting part on the front. That dictates where everything else will be mounted. So, when the car is tuned and ready to go, a full test day will be in order and then I think the first actual event will be Super Lap Battle at Pocono. We'll see though, I might only be able to do Redline @ VIR this year and a few test days.

Some cooling system photos.

Just the one I see every day doesn't have a motor or trans and nothing on the back, just frame rails.

This is the only photo I have of the latest iteration.

The exhaust side.

I'm making an intake manifold for a fellow Zilvian, different than mine. It will be better than mine for sure but for a single throttle.

There have been a few photos in different issues but not any features. They usually have photos from Redline events so I steal em.

A few HDR photos that my buddy Tony took of the shop and my car. That is his 2002 we are stuffing a built SR into.

hdr stands for high dynamic range. basically it captures the light like our eyes see it. you take one photo with perfect exposure then one slightly under exposed then one slightly over exposed. then you layer them together and you have a pic like above.

the cars looking good bill keep doing it, 09 season should be fun!

Thanks Jilo!

Sicbastard,
The stands are common place in rallying and really make servicing a car a lot easier as there are no stands under the body. There is a company in the UK that sells the stands and then a kit to weld the parts to the chassis. They are easy enough to make though and there really isn't anything more to them than you can see.

4 WRC Sill Stands Set - £275.00 : Motorsport-Tools.com (UK), Motorsport Tools and Equipment for Race, Rally and Car Restorers

You can also modify regular jack stands. I'll probably make a new set soon that has height adjustability and if I do, I'll document it.

I've been working on the wiring and repainted the interior. The chassis harness is almost complete and the engine harness should take half the time.

Bill, can we get more specifics on the type of wire, connectors, and braiding that you are using. The reasons you're using those types and cost? I rushed through wiring my supercharged miata and am paying for it now. And I still have the LS2 in the s14 to rewire and want to do it right this time.

PS I wish my exterior paint looked as good as your interior!

Thanks...though it doesn't look as good up close.
The interior paint was brushed on and is polyurethane with teflon, used on boats. You can get it at any marine store. The wire is tefzel, MIL-W-22759 in different sizes but mostly 20 gauge. Harness materials I have been building up on for probably 8 months now, the connectors I have gotten over the last few years. The main firewall connection consists of two matrix 18-32pin connectors, 20 gauge wire. Most of the raychem boots and transitions were sourced from the UK, from a friend and then a friend of his. The harnessing is DR25 raychem. The harness I made 4 years ago was made using similar materials (tefzel wire and DR25) but not completely resistant to moisture, dirt, oils etc. (it also had about 20 things added to it since then) With the boots and hot glue tape, the harness will be completely sealed. When I took apart the old harness, there was corrosion on a lot of connections.
Most of the harnessing parts can be bought stateside at p-r-s.com or is-motorsport.com .

Christ that harness looks good. I wouldn't mind redoing the wiring in my S14, especially to that extent. But shit... I just hate dealing with so many wires.

Awesome work - makes my chassis work look LAME in comparison lol.

I looked around for mil-spec connectors/spools of wire/strips of connectors, but havent moved on anything, mainly because everything I've done WORKS right now Its hard to take a working system apart just for the fun of it.
