Paint the wheels the same color blue as the car.

Oh, and paint the mirrors too.
Or... paint the mirrors white?

So Ron and I headed up to the track thursday for a test day. We built Ron a new motor for his track Impreza. He has been getting parts over the past two years for the engine build. JDM version 7 2.0 (semi-closed deck) block and big port heads, Tomei 2.2 Stroker Kit, GT30R rotated mount kit, Version 7 intake manifold, 6MT with active diff. We reversed the intake manifold and I modified the greddy intercooler for rear entry and exit to shorten the piping a bit. His car ran great and he was overwhelmed by the new powers.

The maxi has never handled better. The power was about the same as maximum power last year so I was able to focus on the car and not how fast it was. The powerband is so much better for circuit use and allows much more control getting on the power. I'm very excited to get the car up to power with decent tires. I only got in about 20 laps though before I had a small issue with the throw out bearing. Some pics.

2 a.m. , subaru in the truck, maxi on the trailer

Check out my receding hairline

There is a good book Racecar Aerodynamics : Designing for Speed. Racecar Engineering and Racetech have had a bunch of articles on splitter, underbody and diffuser design. A lot of it isn't geared toward tin tops but there is good info non-the-less.

Bill what happened to the rear diffusor you were running? I might swing by with gator today for a minute since we will be passing right through Norwood anyways.

"Racecar Aerodynamics : Designing for Speed" Thanx! I've got a new package coming from Amazon. I had this idea of welding up a custom Al fuel cell whos bottom doubled as a part of the rear diffuser. Problem is I have no idea what I'm doing or talking about, or if this even feasable... just a slight set back.

Did you finish the entire undertray? Any pics of it off the car?

Love your thread.

Will you highlight some of the mods that you made to your rear subframe?
The sway bar mounts are awesome, but I know that there are some more subtle changes/enhancements that you made that I can't quite discern. Solid Subframe and Nismo diff bushings are going in soon, and while it's out...

This pic reminds me so much of Koguchi's green car in it's best stage!

I can't wait to see a vid of this thing. Please, please, PLEASE upload a high-res version so we can all really see it in action!

I wish I could, but I am working this weekend and too short of notice to get off. I would have driven the s13 in street class, it's running great after the DSG tune.

Can't wait to see video!!
