It looks like a carb return spring. There is a car that has the trunk held shut with this setup, I'm going to see if I can find that picture.

its at the back of the valve cover near the firewall....disconnecting it seems to help my engine to run more smoothly

The connection under the Neutral Position sensor - Cylinder with a wire coming out of the end of it, and bolted in with 1 screw....

I cannot find reference to it in the FSM....
