Edit: FOR Mad-ass..

Just set up your car a little different then. I use 205/45/17F and 245/40/17R with my N/A KA. No more understeer, just less oversteer.

Pretty sure Powers used 235/40/17F and 275/35/18R at Infineon this year. Pretty sure.

I have my car setup pretty durn good at the moment with the tire sizes, don't see anything wrong with them, just that I gotta prepare my car to accept the power of LS1 swap here soon and want to put down more tires then I am right now, at least rear camber wise. since I didn't even think about balancing out the tire width front to rear at all, this changes everything! lol

then again, GTO's stock come 235/40/18 all around, and that's LS2/400hp on tap, so I think 255 in the rear with almost no camber will do good!

Ive got a full bolt on + cam LS1 in my S14, close to 400whp and im running 255/40/17 Hankook RS3's out back. I love them, they provide excellent grip and ive had a few friends drive my car this past weekend and they agreed also. I do get wheel spin if i mash the pedal off the line or throw 2nd real quick but thats expected. It is very controllable though, not just insane spinning. hope you understand lol

btw im running 255/40 all around on 17x9 +22 advan rgII's. 1.5* camber up front and 0.8* camber out back.

235/255 set up will work pretty nicely, I had it on my red car and loved it, front end was light but sharp and the rear had plenty of grip. If you run under -2*camber you'll be very happy with the results. Also look into changing your traction rod length to 8.5" for a better toe curve during suspension compression, it will further improve traction.

Need help planning on getting 17" or 18" f9/r10, what would be a good offset and tire size for a s14 want alot of grip as im going to put in a 2jz.

I would go with 18x9 up front in the +17 to 25 range.
For rears would go 18x10 +25 to 35

This all depends on how much tire you want and your motorsport though. Obviously if you want 285's or some shit in the rear (drag oriented setup) you dont want to go with 18x10 +25 in the rear...That would require enough camber to lose effectiveness.

However if your going for a grip/road course type oriented setup more camber would be acceptable and still remain useful.

^^^Man, seriously. Straight out his ass. Both setups can work though... His just isn't what I'd do. Do his setup if you're scared of rear fender work, I guess. You might get lucky if you go with his 17x9+25 up front and it just barely clears your coilovers, but probably not.

Ok I guess this is the best place to ask? So I am running 17x9 +12 F and 17x9.5 +12 R so here is my question are 235/40 and 255/45 good sizes to run on a stock bodied S13?

Probably not.
Online Wheel & Tyre Fitment calculator. Offset and Tyre Stretch

255/45 is really tall. Try 255/40 on the rear. /suggestion

And that's great for you. Ppl just need to realize that not all coilovers are made with the same amount of backspace. I've seen 17x9+25 P45R's barely clear on s13's with coilover's like Megans. The same thing with 17x9+22 RPF1's on an s14 with Stance's. I'm talking they cleared with like 2mm of space... so little that both owners decided to get slip on spacers anyway beceause it was sooo uncomfortably close.

Like I said, you might get lucky, if you picked a coilover that has more backspace than most. Don't run around telling folks that 17x9+30 will CERTAINLY clear coilovers, because in alot of case, it won't. But +20 certainly will.

I totally agree. 17x9+12 with 235/40 (f) and 17x9.5+12 (r) with 255/40 is a great setup, IMO. Still gonna need some camber and fender pulling in the rear though, but go for it!

I think it looks great. But I think if you're gonna make statements like the one I just quoted, it might be helpful to the less informed if you clarified that you're running Koni+GC sleeves and not the typical off the shelf coilover. Just to keep miscommunication & misinformation down to a minimum.

whats up going with a new setup soon so wanted some input on tire sizing.. i'm going with 17x9 +20 f and 18x9.5 +15r.. im on kyb agx with tein s.techs( low enough for nyc daily driving) on an s14.. i was thinking to go with 235/40/17 in front and 255/35/18 in the rear.. what you guys think? good balance? if not open to suggestions..

You say "straight out his ass" and then go on to say they'll both work? A little contradictory huh?

In most cases that setup will work! And it will be easier and most likely more effective than your purposed setup too, unless he's got a car capable of using the camber necessary to fit your setup. Which is doubtful.

Not contradictory at all. It was a backhanded compliment. Maybe you'll learn about them when you get older.

Your proposed 17x9's for the front with offset between +17 to +25. Do you realize that my suggested +20 offset falls within that range? Do you also realize than going much higher than +20 in the front won't clear alot coilovers? Do you also realize that many ppl have been running 17x9+20 FN01RC's with 245/40 tires for YEARS now?

There is a reason why I gave very specific specs instead vague estimate with wide margins, like you. It's because the sizes I recommended are common to find and have been done before.

My reply was not only to your offset! But your offset matched with your tire size.

***A 18x10 +20 with a 265 in the rear will NOT put his 2jz power to the ground as effectively as a 265 with a higher offset wheel!***

And good job making up your "purposed" aspect ratios in your new post haha. You never mentioned them earlier. I quoted your original post to refresh your memory.

Nick_04K, pipe down. I'm not gonna bother bickering with you. If you're poking around in this thread, I would have thought the aspect ratios for 17's & 18's would be obvious. My bad for not spelling it out for you, I guess.

The guy asked for a recommendation. I gave my opinion. You disagreed with it. Fine. Obviously, neither are wrong. They're just different.

Hopefully the guy who asked will be happy that he has options to pick from for his new setup, because there's more than one way to skin a cat, as they say. Now drop it.
