CA 1998 240sx $6000

I have a 1998 240SX with a little under 60k miles on the KA. I am selling my car with an "AS IS" contract as it has not passed the smog test in California. Supposedly I just have to drive it more so that all the sensors can turn on and then I will be able to pass. I will keep driving it in the meantime, but just don't want to deal with the hassle anymore. Does not have tags so once you pass smog you might have some other DMV charges ($1,000) to take care of as well. The car is still in really good condition considering it is a 14 year old car and I know how hard it is to find a 98 in this condition. Because of the smog issue though, I will be asking for $5,000. KBB values the private seller cost at "fair" condition at $7,3XX so please do not try to offer anything less than the 6k I am asking for as that is already a really good price.

5Zigen wheels 18x8.5 (f) 18x9.5(r)
Tanabe coilovers and tension rods
Sparco seats & harnesses
Exedy clutch recently installed
300ZX twin turbo front brake upgrade with slotted Brembo rotors all around.
Mishimoto aluminum radiator.

Any questions or offers please let me know.

There is no ac, cruise control is not working, tires have about 40% thread left. Body kit has some cracks and scratches, and of course your normal dings and dents on body but nothing major.

Now for the good, car has a clean title, never even been in a fender bender. There is no rust anywhere on the car, brake pads and rotors have recently been replaced with new oem nissan pads(300zx in the front, 240sx rear) Rotors are new slotted brembo not resurfaced. Engine has no leaks and no check engine light showing either.

Rear bumper didn't come in the US so of course it would either be resprayed or off a different car from Japan or something like that.

Yeahh.. what i was thinking. bad job getting paint matched? hahah. nonetheless, least of any problems i'd say.

Wonder what charges / dmv fee's / smog, all these would cost though.. 60k on stock is really pulling me towards this though :'(

Yeah the initial color match was pretty good, once the sun got ahold of it, different story though. Car does have a clean title, never even been in a fender bender. Besides the aero kit, paint is original factory. I am the second owner and bought it back in 2001 with only 28k miles on it. Any other questions let me know. As far as dmv/smog fees, there is usually the $50 test fee, the $1xx dmv fee plus whatever the late fee's for the registration would be since 2008.

Not looking to part out, hasn't been registered because of the turbo kit that was installed made the car fail the smog test. DMV investigator looked into the shop that "helped" me pass smog so they put a hold on my registration till I passed a referee inspection. Hold has been removed and just need to pass the smog in California now. Been trying to pass it legit that is why it has taken so long.

Cleanest 1998 240sx w/SR20DET

Installed the S14 SR20DET in June 2007 and ran strong until I got a ref ticket last October. Car has not been driven since and I need to sell it out of state or as a race car or even to someone in California who will be willing to buy it "AS IS" so I can get rid of it. Buyer will have to take care of the ref ticket or smog in their state.

what sup with that?

Had an SR swap, then the KA with the Greddy Kit, and now back to the KA with all emission parts. Car has passed referee visual inspections several times, it was always one or two engine codes that kept me failing. That was a process of finding the correct parts, which by the way is difficult since emission parts are expensive and usually hard to find. If you look at the "Wanted to buy" section, you can also see that I have been looking for emissions parts for a couple of years now.

This car was a lot of fun for me to drive, and it is hard to let it go. At $6,000 this car is a steal no matter what so if you are interest then PM me.

Oh one more thing, didn't get caught driving fast. The smog test place where I "passed" with my SR swap got investigated by the DMV investigator and they tracked all the customers who had taken a smog test there and that is how they came to find me and put a hold on my car until I passed a referee inspection.

Just goes to show that you gotta be very careful about where you get your smog test.

Hey, still have not seen a response back from you. I was planning to leave early this morning to pick it up. It's a little too late now to make it back in time to make it to work tomorrow. If its still available let me know. I'll either setup shipping or be out next weekend.

All PM's answered.

*Quick update also, I took the car for another smog test this morning. Emissions passed, only thing holding me back is the ECU still not being ready. Guy told me to drive it like a granny and that usually works. So I will keep driving for now unless car sells before I get a chance to retest again. Have title and necessary paperwork in hand for quick sale.

Thanks.

How many miles are on that KA? I assume not 60k since you had a SR in there then swapped it back to a KA.

I'd be interested in this but I'd like to see how much it would cost to register and deliver the vehicle to ft Riley Kansas.

Not looking to ship. Want to sell this fast. I found out from DMV how much it would be to register and it will be $1,000. It sucks because the hold on my car prevented me from putting the car on "Planned Non Operation" so because of this, the price will now be $5,000 since you will need the other $1,000 to register the vehicle.

I am not trying to scam anyone and with my first baby on the way I definitely don't need the bad karma. This was a fun car for me but its time to man up so even though it hurts me to let it go, this could be your lucky day.
