1UZ V8 Coupe POW! (Slow Build)

starting a new project and ill update as i go. been collecting parts for sometime now. trying to buy parts here and there, tried to gather what i needed then put together.

Started off with a 91 Coupe with a KA24DE

Picked up a ls400 1uzfe motor from a dismantler in Rancho Cordova, CA
And started taking things apart.

First thing done was new timing belt
Got the Bottom crank at TDC:

L&R cams:

Dont mind the belt marks

New belt aligned:

New gasket kit (i will only be using a few things from this)

And here are all the parts i Have ready to go:
I Knew i wanted to go with a KA trans bc of how easy they are to find, and the 5 speed gear box i think will be good with this motor. plus i dont need a new drive shaft or trans mount.
So research led me to getting the following.

1uz to KA trans adapter plate
w/ TOB spacer
MR2turbo flywheel (Same spline count as KA trans)
300 zx Clutch Disk (Same surface area as flywheel)

I gave Brett Collins a Call and ordered what i needed.
BEEEFY! plate

And TOB Spacer w/ other parts such as
Injector seals
PBM coolant temp sensor housing thing
PBM shift Knob

did you need to get a new pivot ball? Also, did you get the trans machined to make up for the extra thickness of the adapter plate?

Had a chance to work on this thing.
Got You can see how i had the machinist mill around the center crank bolts to use the oem plate as a pressure plate to distribute the pressure evenly on the bolts
Used ARP 4ag flywheel bolts.

clutch and pressure plate mounted up

I wanted to really feel this thing when i kicked the clutch, 2500lb pressure plate:

Next i had to fix the starter clearence issure so i removed the stock starter bolts and added a spacer to the inside to push it back about 3mm.
now it has enough room to engage and not rub when not.

I than sat the engine the bay to start figuring out the motor mounts,
This is where i left off but you can see what need to be done. That hump is the Xmember.

And this is the room i have

For mounts I was going to make my own but we just
Moved into a new house and to keep the cutting and grinding noise
Down until I get to know the neighbors i ordered them from enjuki (sp)

Now as far as wiring that's something I don't want to mess with so
I'm trailering the car to Livermore, Ca where
I found a guy that can wire it.
He's done a lot of 1uz swaps and even bar'd theM
But I'm not doing all that since I took off all egr and headers
Are beyond oem.
I'll make a wiring guide once I get to that point to help you all out.

Cool build bro! If I wasn't going 1J I'd be all over this! Honestly at times I thought about selling it and doing the 1UZ. But I've got mounts wiring etc. already... maybe one day.

It's good to see another person venturing with this swap. The 1UZ is a great motor and they are dirt cheap! You going to keep it stock/NA or what are your goals with it?
