Broadfield,

Would you happen to have any photos underneath the front frame rails? I wanted to see how far you had the white paint sprayed to match the undercoated section of the wheel wells.

Thanks

Thanks Royal! Yeah I had the black braided nylon lines on my old SR setup, but had the standard blue/red fittings. There just wasn't very many black fitting styles back then... just the basic -4 through -12 in standard type fittings. Now you can pretty much get anything in black.

The bottom of the front frame rails. The section which would be covered by your front subframe once it is installed.

They are just the original white OEM finish. You wouldn't ever see them and there was nothing wrong with them, so I left them. Had they been rusty or something then I would of re-finished them like the rest of the bay.

Second of all, if you think I'm going to run those damn OEM fuel rails you are sadly mistaken. This car will not be done till Spring... I have a long ways to go and a lot of parts to buy. Most likely I will run the FAST billet rails and paint/anodize them black instead of the garbage red-maroon they are out of the box. But if you want to give me a set of nice rails you have laying around I won't say no
LOL definitely losing it then. Good lookin' on the FAST rails, they're nice.

Okay gotcha. Perhaps a pretty question would be, did you and/or your painter feather the primer/guide coat/top coat paint into the oem paint on the bottom secton?

I had it feathered when I repainted my bay but it doesn't match quite well since the oem paint doesn't have a clear or gloss coat and I always thinking about re-doing it.

I feathered it at the bottom edge of the frame. So if you look at it from inside the bay you only see fresh paint. If you look at it from underneath you only see original paint. But seriously do you care? You would never see that area in a million years unless your car is 4x4 status and you actually looked under there or if you had it on a lift.

The only thing I'm worried about is my engine bay is black, and with the powder being greyish/black I wonder how easy it's going to be to see. I guess I'll just have to find out unless they offer a white powder. (non-Columbian of course )

So you primed the bay black? If so, then you do not need a guide coat really. Because when you sand the black primer the sanded areas turn a "gray"... essentially showing where you have been and where you still need to sand.

No, it's the factory paint still and all I've done is block it once over to rough it up in preparation for paint. The whole car is currently being prepped for paint and it seems like that guide coat is going to make my life a whole hell of a lot easier.

How are you planning on mounting the rad so it gets enough airflow if its not going to be upfront. Coolant lines will have to be huge. no?
