The Retarded VQ35HR R32 SKyRine build

This build has been on going for approx 1year. I didn't start a thread because I can't have some constant update until now.

Anyway..here it goes!

Purpose of the build:
I am building this car for mainly track days and drifting. It is my learner car for different motorsport. Since I don't have a daily car now, this will also be my daily driver. I am not looking for big hp on this car so engine will be stock for awhile. For the beginning of the build, I will be focus on handling/Chassis modification.

Background about the car:
I got this car off Adam@feast last june. It arrived last week and works started right away. Car was tune by Signal Auto in Japan with decent amount of mods, However, I am not planning to keep anything beside the shell. I will open up a for sale thread once I get the parts off.

Here is the Mod list when I got the car last year

-RB26DETT (For Sale)
- Tomei pon cams
- Tomei Headgasket
- HKS outlet
- R34 N1 turbo

UPDATE #1

This is the first update of the car. I have spend a few days removing my interior and my front end. Overall a pretty easy job so there are not much to write about it.

I am looking to keep the weight down as much as possible but still keeping the A/C and other electronic features. How can you go fast you are not driving comfortably?????

Things I am going to do for the interior:
- Stripped sound deadening
- Stripped rear seats
- Fully seam welded
- 16pt weld in cage
- Redo Dash wirings
- Redo Dashboard

Parts That I just received or collected:
- Vented CF hood
- CF trunk
- PS duce Bodykit
- Aragosta coilover
- SPL tension rod
- SPL traction rod
- SPL rear upper control arms
- SPL rear toe arms
- S13 non-hicas subframe
- K-sport Hydraulic handbrakes
- Takata 4pt long harness
- Takata Shoud pads
- Apexi EVC
- Razo Padels (yes you can stop laughing now)
- Work VS-KF 18x9.5 18x11

I am not going to take pic for everything since some of them are in the storage.

UPDATE # 2

Thanks for the works guys. Everyone is entitle to their opinion but calling my car riced out pieces of **** covered with plastic to make it look low is just too much.

For the suspension component I chose, i wouldn't say its rice out pos. It is almost better than 95% of the suspension set up here.

This is my inspiration if any one is interested.

Since the car is not moveable so I didn't disconnect the A/C. I will try my best to have all the spot covered.

Long time no upates.

I was in hongkong for the past couple weeks so I don't have much time working on my car. Now it's summer and I have no school..I should have more updates for you guys!!

I just installed my brakes the other day.
Brembo monoblock 6pot caliper
380mm 2pcs cross drilled rotors

Brembo monoblock 4pot caliper
345mm 2pcs cross drilled rotors

Unfortunately, my front SSR professor SP1 will not fit the brakes so I will have to sell the front. I am going with a set of TE37 SL now!

Sunny day today so I decided to work on my car.

I just got more update regarding the engine. The "GUY" said he wasn't scam me and my shipping company lied to me. I will have my shipper go there again to pick it up so hopefully everything will turn out the way it should be. I also bought a VQ37 short block since I thought the first guy will fxxk me over. Now I am probably going with a VQ35HR head with the VQ37 block for the extra displacement.

Good weather so I painted the cage. Silver/aluminum finish.

And since my CF trunk doesn't really close and I am sick of using tape to hold it down..I bought some tool box latches.

20mins of measuring and drilling.
Click the image to open in full size.

And WTF..
Click the image to open in full size.

I hate CF trunk...What should I so to fix this.
I also bought a set of bottom mount aerocatch but I fail on install it. I gave up after I mounted the two pins. I'll finish it tomorrow.
Click the image to open in full size.

Since the cage was painted and now dry, I put the carpet back on with the cut out for the cage.

Now..Time to move on to the power plant:

I got this VQ335HR off a 2007 350z
Reason why I went with the VQ
- more displacement
- lighter
- 6psd
- better weight distrution
- more reliable
- smoother power band

I am sure alot of the guys will argue about vq vs rb26 but I think nissan did a wise judgement on moving onto a v6 from an I-6.

Are you running 2 ebrakes? I saw a Ksport one in your parts pic yet you have the drums still installed. Not a bad set up for a street/track car so you can still have a real ebrake on the street, just wondering.

Time attack or drifting? Those brakes are OVERKILL for drifting but they are super baller.
