| Post Whore! ![]() | Well I was taking my gf to the airport about 200 miles away and on the way back I started to mess with the sunroof. I noticed that when closing it about 3/4ths of the way it would stop whistling. So, I stuck a pen in from the back(eeewww that sounded gross) to keep it from closing all the way. IT DIDN'T WHISTLE!!!! So now I'm going to go to Wal-Mart and try to find some little rubber stoppers to keep it from closing all the way so I won't have a pen looking ghetto sticking out. Though, no one has noticed yet. I hope this helps ppl with theirs sunroofs.![]()

| Post Whore! ![]() | "oh. that trick. ive been doing it for years." - bunta well. yea i tried leaving it not closed all the way but after a while it would always pop back open or pop close so i guess if i use a pen like you. it would work.

| Post Whore! ![]() | s13driver-no it does not leak. It actually seals tighter. That's why it doesn't whistle. FRpilot-yeah I tried just leaving it too but it kept popping open. That's why I tried this. Hopefully I can find some suitable rubber stoppers. If I do I'll post which ones they are.

| Zilvia Addict ![]() | There is a slightly more elegant and permanent fix for this. Take off the plastic piece at the latch, then unbolt the latch from the roof, and go get some washers from any place that sells hardware, get like 6 to 10, varying in thickness( i forget how many it took me, they are dirt cheap anyway) Put the washers between the roof and the latch plate. This moves the fulcrum out a bit and gives your latch a little more force. Use different amounts and thicknesses of washers to find the perfect spot where is holds the sunroof down, but doesn’t take extreme effort to lock shut. Now your sunroof will not whistle anymore..... well at least until the rubber seal starts to crack and come off -Matt

| Zilvia Member ![]() | Heh heh, I've been using a piece of rubber hose about 2 inches long for probably five years. If I open or remove the sunroof, I just drop the hose in the ashtray. I know about the washer fix, but I've been too busy with stuff like suspension, Z brakes, S14 seats, and electric fans to bother with it yet. I'll probably do it when I put a piece of rubber in the rearview mirror bracket to keep it from vibrating. |

| Zilvia FREAK! ![]() | i changed the latch itself with a new(er) one and it doesnt whistle unless I go stupid-fast. i hear that strut tower braces help reduce the rattling when the roof is open too!?

| Post Whore! ![]() | Can we get an archive for the fixes in this thread? I like the washer one a little better but the rubber stopper is far easier. Peel the back off, stick, done. ![]()
